Hi

Well Eugene arrived on Friday evening, thank you to Linda for bringing him here. The first hurdle was turning off the washing maching to make sure he didn't get spooked!! As Linda was leaving he found a spot he liked and fell asleep. Unfortunately, the departure of Linda made my timid cat think it was safe to come out, she happended to be hiding up high in the same room as Eugene. He was muzzled, but she got startled, he got started and so a little time out in his own room was called for to calm him down.

After I unpacked all his toys, food etc etc, I gave him his dinner which he ate right away which was good. During the walk he was a little 'bouncy' if that makes sense, but does walk very well on a gentle leader.

He slept well, no crying or anything at all. Saturday morning he was shaking like a leaf when I went to get him for a walk but he was happy to go out and ate his breakfast no probs.

I decided to give him some time exploring with muzzle on and he was wandering around OK until he found somewhere to lie down - the couch - but we are kind of learning thats not allowed.

Saturday one of the more braver cats ventured into Eugenes room and unfortunately she ran, so he now has this habit of watching for wee furry animals to chase. I have managed to catch him by the collar and said 'leave it' firmly but it does get him excited so we can work on that.

The really good news, I thought was this morning when I went down to get him for the walk he wagged his tail as he saw me. Hopefully by the end of the week he will be well into the routine. Him and brook are OK with each other, he sniffs her and she ignores him ha ha.

This afternoon out for a walk we passed a man who was out with his dog, the guy had a ball on the end of a stick which freaked Eugene out a wee bit and if it wasn't for the gentle leader I'm sure he would have been off.

Here are some pictures, sorry they are a bit dark, took them with my mobile.

This bed doesn't fit me, there must be one in this house that does!!

AAAHHH this is better, although I like the look of that couch!

And, if you look closely I am playing with a squeaky toy!! Only lasted about a minute, but hey.

Here my flatmate Brook, but shes a bit offish.

It sounds like its all really new for the boy but I'm sure he'll come on in leaps and bounds as he gets his confidence. I'm so thrilled I always thought he looked a beauty. Fingers crossed this is his ticket to a forever home.

It's just soooo wonderful to see a dog finally getting the chance of a home environment - well done you for giving him this opportunity. I'm looking forward to hearing all about each step as he gets more confident. Loved hearing about his tail wag for the walk smile.gif

Keep up the good work and care you're putting in with Eugene. It is so rewarding to see a dog from kennels settling into home life, and enjoy home comforts. smile.gif
