Had a call a short while ago from a couple with three greys, one is a Gal dog, they spotted a black grey going in to a garden, one of them followed but the dog went out the back of the garden, they have gone to get some warm clothes on and are going to keep looking takeaway shops in the near vicinity, the area is Carbeth Rd.?MILNGARVIE,hope I've spelled it correctly, will post if I hear anything else. Please let it be him, keep everything crossed.
No further info. re Dev sighting last night. Took some posters from Doglost site and amended them (pen) to include last night's possible sighting and adding GAL tel no. Put up two in Clober Golf Club which is at bottom of Carbeth Rd. Also spoke to couple of golfers. Next spoke to anyone with dog as I drove about area. Back up Carbeth Rd and met local friendly postie who took poster to put up in sorting office. Went on up to Canniesburn Taxis who have also taken one. On way back down stopped to speak to woman with dog who said she already knew as everyone was now talking about it (Great!). Went back to Milngavie town centre where they put poster up in Creature Comforts (local pet shop). Paraded William about in his dinosaur fleece with two of the missing posters attached to it. He attracted quite a bit of interest as you might imagine and it was good weather for it. Quite a few people stopped to ask about posters and seemed genuinely concerned and interested in the welfare of Dev - the most I've experienced anywhere so far in such a short period of time. Unfortunately could only stay in town centre for about an hour as had to get back for other dogs. Forgot to find out where local vet is.
Milngavie seems like a very good place for Dev to be lost in as it's not the kind of place where you will see many stray dogs, so he would be noticed. Also despite the fact that it's quite spread out and there's a reasonably large population, there is a village type atmosphere and word does get around - as I've already experienced today! If anyone who lives in that area can suggest other places to try to put up poster please let me know.
I've only got a couple of GAL's "business cards" left. Can someone tell me who to contact to obtain more?
Just had a call from a lady to tell me that the same black dog has been seen on the golf course and on the football pitches, the golf course is at the top of the road where he was seen the other night.
This is really great. I wish I lived closer I would be out looking too, I don't even know anyone in the area to help. But fingers crossed. Poor soul, all that wet and windy weather we have had I was kind of hoping someone had taken him in.
Hi, went on an overnight search last night, had my hopes raised at the edge of Golf Club car pack, caught something in the headlights, too big for a fox/cat not big enough for a deer,it was equally curios of us,it shot behind a fairly high beech hedge, then very briefly popped its head out for another peek,by the time we got out of the car it had gone, though we could hear rustling in the garden, put out very smelly food and waited, drove all over the place and kept returning to check on the food,it remained untouched.Spoke to the night watchman, two guys walking their dog,the amount of people out in the middle of the night was surprising, saw a black dog and a retreiver, going out with their owner at 2.30 am.!!It was cold, but dry and visibility was good. Just a thought, has the DogLost poster been updated, people we spoke to have been noticing the posters.?Will go out again as soon as I can.I'm working Monday, Wed. and Fri.,next week, may try to get out again at the weekend.
I've been following this heartbreaking story - I pray that this is Dev and that he is found safe and well. I lost a dog on the road a couple of weeks ago, which has been devastating, so obviously this has been very much on my mind. You have all been so dedicated in searching for him,in all weathers and conditions even when it must have beeen so disheartening. I just want to pass on my very best wishes, I wish I was closer so I could help, but I'm crossing fingers and toes for his safe return. Thinking of you all, Fiona and gang x
Perhaps you and I could pop up that way after lunch on Saturday or something. We could have a good walk round and head home late afternoon/early evening. What do you think?
Always check the Doglost site in case of any update on Dev, but there have been no postings since 05/01/08. Is there some reason why possible Milngavie sightings have not been posted? Realise it may not be Dev, but there's always a chance and if it was him in Sighthill/Bishopbriggs/Torrance/Kirkintilloch area then it would be on his route. It's likely that there are others like me who look at site frequently, but who live in Milngavie and would not think/know about GAL site for news. Also it's a very dog friendly area and there's a lot of goodwill towards Dev as I've found each time I've gone up there.
Alison from Milngavie called me today to ask if any one was going over to have a look around for this dog tonight,I told her that I'd not managed to get over today,I don't know if anyone is going out if you are give me a call and I will let her know, she and her son are going over to the golf club tonight to put out food and keep watch.
Went up last night with William10pm and had a walk around golf course and in general area, but no signs. Met Alison just as was leaving and before she was about to go and do after midnight watch. Posters everywhere there and beyond. She has done a fabulous job in publicising this - you could not walk about that area and fail to notice them!
Some news,a week ago a black greyhound was seen at Bilsland,Ruchill,Springburn,a lady saw this dog avoiding workmen,it crossed the road but seemed to be quite traffic savvy,it was wearing a collar, the lady lives at the top of Springburn, could this be the same dog who may have back tracked on itself as it's not been seen in Milngavie for a couple of days?Surely there can't be that many black greys with collars straying around. Rachel.
