Well, now I feel awful that I can't take on another dog!!! In my eyes you're a hero for fostering! I don't have the time or space to do it (much as I would like to!).

Hi all, an update on Legion. His new pins are still in place and is dressing is off. He is much happier in himself these days. If the vet gives the go-ahead i'll take him with me and the other 10 dogs on holiday at the borders at New Year. He goes back on the 20th Dec, so I hope he is fit enough to travel.

Loved the photo of poor Legion that Glenda posted. He looks so down in the dumps at being 'grounded'. Great that he's kept his pins in place and at least he doesn't have a bulky dressing now. Fingers crossed that he'll be well enough to travel with you. Hope you all have a great time down in the Borders at the New Year!

Just a wee note to let you all know that Legion is starting to put weight on his leg. I am so happy. Fingers crossed for the next month. In the end he will have to undergo another op to get the wires out, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. He can look forward to a lovely xmas dinner, courtesy of M&S

Hi all, just back from the vet with Legion. He walked up the road with all 4 feet on the ground. Michael the vet is so pleased with him. He deserves a medal. Fingers crossed for the next 2 mths.

A little bird told me you're missing out on the trip to the Borders but I hear your holiday home is run by friendly folk who'll spoil you rotten. You got the best end of that deal!

Hi all,just an update on Legion. The vet is so pleased with him. He reckons Legions knee is 90% fixed and might not need the wires out at all. He is a super dog and will be up for rehoming at the end of February. I will be sad to see him go as he is part of my family but as i have a big family (7 dogs) (1 kid) he will get so much more attention elsewhere. If anyone is interested in giving Legion his forever home, speak to Mr Melville.

This is great news, Esther! You know, it's spooky - I was thinking this morning about Legion and how he was getting on and I intended to ask how he was tonight. Must be telepathy.

Anyway, delighted that Legion has recovered so well and so quickly from such a shattering experience. Hope he gets a wonderful home soon - although you'll be sad to see him go. He sounds as if he's a great wee character!

Great news about Legion! right who wants to adopt him then??...

Strangely enough as I was reading Esthers post about Legion I received a call from the foster parents of Pebbles, a lovely dog thats been looking for a home for 3 months now, poor Pebbles broke her leg this morning!!! She's OK and will be back at her foster parents in a couple of days, we've had quite a long 'injury' list over the last few months, think we've had one dog or the other in plaster for the last 6 months!...

yeah, Pebbles is enjoying the country life on a farm! Her foster parents will be keeping her till she ready to be adopted, probably in a couple of months time all being well!

Hi all, another update on Legion. The boy gave me such a scare on Sunday night. He started crying and holding his bad leg up. I honestly thought that the pins had broken again. He went straight up to the vet in the morning and nick x-rayed him. All is fine, he must have knocked it. I personally think he has been trying to put it over his ears as he had to sit through a committee meeting on Sunday and the talking was too much to bear.

Great news and what a relief for you that Legion is progressing and that your vet is pleased with him. They do scare you, though, when they cry like that and hold up their bad leg! Vegas did the same thing long after his bandages came off and he'd limp really badly in the house when he remembered about it, and he only had stitches in his pad. Nothing like the pins in his leg that Legion has!

Hope your foster boy continues to do well. What a character he is - he sounds lovely.

I have just be reading about Legion, and your family, well impressed I can tell you!, How do you manage seven dogs? I used to have four, a great dane, a yellow lab. an irish setter, and a lab/retriever cross, no bother, but I've two gal dogs now!! Any pointers?? Big cuddles to Legion, and his pals!

Hi Jackie, you won't feel complete unless you have a minimum of four greys/lurchers.. Sorry Dave thats your line.

No seriously they are all well walked, fed and contented in a pack. I think walking 8 dogs I'm probably a bit stricter on them than if i just had one or two to contend with.

Great to see Legion getting on so well after his injury and that you've adopted him permanently. And to tie in with Suzanne's post about big black sleek shiny beautiful beasts I'd say Legion fits that to a T. He's a credit to you and a beautiful addition to your family!
