I think that's lovely Esther. Without ever having met him - I have a soft spot for Legion. Having struggled for some time with the growing urge to help a greyhound it was Legion's appeal in the Herald (under the alias of Sooty) which finally compelled me to phone and enquire.
At that point he had only just broken his leg and was off the adoption list, but by then I had committed myself and made my move and on December 1st Sim came to live with us!
As soon as I read Legion's story I knew he must be Sooty (which Esther confirmed) and as I have always felt that he kind of 'called' to me (sounds silly I know) I am really pleased that he is now settled forever.
Thanks everyone for all your thoughts. Im going to post a photo of all my greys as I have nearly one in every colour now. Legion is doing fine and his knee is healing. He goes on his first holiday on the 26th march. Im sure he will love westwood. mmmm I think Ill need to hire a transit to transport them all down.
Awww, bless! I had the pleasure of meeting Legion up at Kelty some time ago. He and Pearly were very kissy-kissy, so hopefully they'll get the chance to meet again.
Hiya, dont let her looks fool you. She has been the hardest one yet. Her background has been hunting, as she was a travellers dog I believe. They have a higher energy level than the greyhound and very different natured. Aisha and my son are joined at the hip. He adores her and she adores him. With other dogs she can be a handful, but I do obedience, agility and am going to try tracking with her. I know the hounds can all jump but she can hunt jump kill and catch as they say and can rarely get off lead. Even if she runs with the other dogs she would tend to go into hunt mode and end up in a fight.
Hi Suzanne, tracking is laying a scent and teaching your dog to track it. Its good for dogs that cant always get off lead. It makes them use their brain as well as being physical. A lot of GSD do it as part of a competition. Ive heard that a lot of greyhound people are getting into it because its good exercise for the dogs.
