argh awful morning all ok now so don't worry but someone last night thought it fun to open our side gate. The one that I can't open without a big boot and a lot of strength. So when I let Red and Lenny out this morning they went out and yes you can guess disappeared argh. After a mad dash around I found Lenny the other side of the main road (no path and big thundering logging lorry sweeping pass). he waited when told good boy that he is. But no sign of Red anywhere. I was frantic. He was found by a lovely lady right out of the village and on the way to Benmore, running back and forward on the same main road. He ran away from her at first but when she stopped her car and opened the door Red dashed around infront of other vehicles and jumped into the car. (he does love a car any car fortunatly). She tried ringing my land line but I was out and about shouting for him... Fortunatly her neighbour recognised him and said he was from Milton and so she drove him to me. Lots of hugs and tears ensued and one very panting hot thirsty greyhound refused to leave the car for a minute but whether it was the look of desperation on my face or the thought that he hadn't had his brekkie he came out and trotted up to the front door as if nothing had happened . He is now flat out on his duvet having had a drink and is snorring so loud that I will have to get some ear plugs. So all ended well but wow it so could have been a different story all because someone thought it a good idea to open my gate......
AAAARGH that's was scary to read never mind actually being there. I am so chuffed for you you got them back but it could have so easily gone the other way. What complete idiots people are at times, very selfish. Glad they are safe now and good on that lady for picking him up.
Very frightening experience for you. Its lovely to know that some folk out there are keen to help in that situation. I can relate to the sense of relief you felt when the two were back home safe and sound.
Its good that your gate is hard to open but not so good that someoned deliberately opened it.
We are always cautious now with our garden gate after the wind blew it open one day last summer, so now we chain it up as Penny disappeared briefly that day. I can vividly remember the panic I felt and the visions in my mind of her running about in streets in front of cars. Ho wever, after shouting in the street and no sign of her I quickly ran inside put on my shoes and got Max on his lead so we could start hunting. When Max and I came out the back door, she suddenly appeared back in the garden, looking happy with herself that she had been on a wee wander.
Could it have been a prowler trying to get to your house? It would take a very sick person to open the gate just so the dogs would get out
Glad it's all ok now
Funny enough I was just coming to that conclusion myself..Anyway alls well that ends well. We are looking into a padlock now and until its fitted I am going to walk around all three gates and check them first....red at them moment is sleeping very very soundly.
My heart is in my mouth just reading about their adventure. One of my worst fears is Mason slipping out of my front gate, he knows where all the cats on his hitlist live I'm so relieved everyone is home safe and sound, sounds like you have some very nice people living around you! Marie
OMG how scarey, your heart must have been in your mouth when you seen them tear out the gate. I'm sooo glad you got them both back safe and well. Thank goodness for the woman who spotted Red and brought him back.
