Fife Council To Stop Handing Out Free Poop Bags
Permalink Closed

The BBC is reporting that Fife council are planning to scrap their "free poop bags for your dog" scheme, presumably to save the 40 grand it costs them each year.

Personally, I think that's nuts. It works and it costs peanuts, so why scrap it?

Cheers,
Graham

40 grand isnt peanuts.

people will just have to use their common sense and use free plastic bags or buy their own poo bags

40 grand isnt peanuts.

Compared to the council's budget of over £580million it is! I'll bet that handing out free poop bags is just about the cheapest thing they do...

Cheers,
Graham

Wow didn't know that any council gave out free poo bags. We have a local community group for Kirn and they provide poo bags at the local pet shop. That I think is a really good initiative perhaps other community groups could do the same????

Free or not it doesn't happen in Leven , lovely beach and prom, doggy heaven and up to our ears in poo. There are poo bins everywhere too, and I have stood and watched the most smartly dressed nice smiley people, watch as their dogs poo and they just walk away quite happy leaving it. There is kiddies play area there too. Stupid gits. There needs to be a crack down grumble grumble mutter mutter

What gets me is the fact that people can be fined for not picking up the poo but on the other hand they will not give out bags to encourage people to lift it or to supply bins to dump it. It seems to be a bit of a double standard there. Personely I buy and use my own bags as I do not want to be beholding to the council, but not everyone is in that position.hmm Nora
