Well Linda collected the boy this morning and hes off to his new home. You may have read the introductions of myggz in the Introductions section who will be the new lucky owner and I'm sure all agree the boy has landed on his feet with this one!!
I certainly look forward to lots of pics and updates, as Eugene was my first foster it was sad to see him go but I'm so glad he has found a home!!
Carole, that is fantastic news! You did a marvellous job with Eugene! it's always mixed emotions watching your fosters leave; the house feels that wee bit emptier without them, but ultimately you know that it's their last move.
i don't wan to make anyone greet, but i came across this poem by Pam Theiss and just thought it summed up things nicely: (hope I'm not breaching any copyright here! )
I remember the day that you came So unhappy, your eyes cast down in shame. Why would someone give you up? Theyd had you since you were a pup. What would your story be, sweet one? Did your family grow tired of the doggie fun? Or maybe you just got old and gray, No longer moved fast, and just got in the way.
You were so scared, so unsure, As the person that you loved left you at the door. I called you by name, told you it would be all right; I put my arms around your neck and held you so tight.
As time went on and I earned your trust, Manners and training were a must. And I know that we made quite a pair Another page turns in foster care.
Not every day was hearts and flowers, you know this much is true, But as a team we kept on trying and saw it all the way through. We spent much time chasing demons; consistency was the key. But little did I realize I needed you as much as you needed me.
The time has come, my Golden onelook how much youve grown. Theres a family who wants a dog to love for their very own. You have to move on, as another needs your space. I know you are ready nowthe wag of your tail, that smile on your face.
I took notes and pictures, right from the start. But the best memory I have of you is etched deeply in my heart. I will not say goodbye, as that is forever. Our bond is specialIll forget you never. So spread your wings, my precious one, the world is waiting for you. Soar high, and fly, and begin your life anew.
I read this and went to mggz and posted, i am chuffed to bits sitting here, I have never met either Branston or Eugene but both Carol and Karen should be chuffed to bits with themselves. What a happy ending for both boys, Loch Lomond eh. Wot a life.
I am so chuffed for the gorgeous Eugene. Branston will be as well when Karen tells him as he was a wee bit worried that I had a soft spot for Eugene after reading so much about him.
Congratulations to myggz and family as well, it sounds like Eugene feels right at home already.
A fantastic job also by Carole, how you guys do it is beyond me, I think you foster parents are all saints!
Glad to hear he is making himself at home already and sure you will have lots of fun with him. I can't wait to hear how he gets on with the local groo gang.
This is just fantastic,he was such a favourite here as was Branston, enormous thanks to both foster mums and thanks to you for giving eugene his forever sofa I could cry!!!!.
So happy to hear Eugene has his forever home now after such a long wait. He looks to have settled in perfectly, you'll get used to the vacant stare, I'm convinced greyhounds can reach the state of enlightenment through meditation lol. As for the couch I agree the other half will get used to the smaller one or the floor through time hehe.
As this is Easter weekend and I finally have some time to get on the forum (oops) I have become so emotional in looking at the photos and hearing the updates on the dogs. It makes me so thankful! I'm so thankful for our foster mums who show that even the timid ones are great to keep! And thankful to everyone who helps and supports GAL - seeing how happy Gene is makes life worth while!!
Okay enough of that. Last thing Karen - that poem is great but boy does it make you weep!
Hope to see Gene at the walks and love hearing all the updates!!
