At ten pm. last night Eddie and I said goodbye to Beckett our stunningly handsome G.S.D.Becketts kennel name was Elmors Drops 'o' Brandy and he was the last of the Elmor dogs from the kennel of our late friends Bette and Ted Moore, the Affix Elmor was a combination of Bettes first and last names Elizabeth Moore, and Beckett was her special boy, when she died suddenly Ted asked that Beckett come back to live with us as he had in the past and Ted himself died six short months after Bette,so it's a sad and poignant time for us as the final link in the chain of a wonderful friendship established through our mutual love of the breed has been broken forever,we take comfort from the fact that Beckett is reunited with them and we still have his daughter Tia,Hero and Maggie our Greys are lost without their big pal,Hero knew something was wrong and spent a lot of time fussing over Beckett and licked his face a few times as if to comfort him, heart wrenching to watch, they came into the sittingroom last night after he died and said their goodbyes,I always let the dogs see the body of their friends,I feel it lets them know where they have gone. It's going to be hard not having him around, harder still knowing that we have lost a very special part of our lives.
How moving and sad, Rachel. He sounds like a much-loved boy who has people waiting to be reunited with him. Hugs to you and Eddie and the gang at this tie. Marie
Rachel, such a touching story and a very sad loss for you and Eddie. Thinking of you both. Another special dog crossed over to Rainbow Bridge who will now be with loved ones passed on before.
It's been such a week - I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. No words can help ease the pain just know that we are all thinking of you. If there is anything we can do... just ask!
Rachel, so sorry to hear about your special boy, Becket. He was a much loved dog and what you wrote was very moving. We're all thinking of you and Eddie.
