Poor old Mason has elephantitis in a paw again this morning. Last time we had this I was hysterically convinced he had broken or dislocated a toe, it turned out to be a glass splinter which had sparked an infection.
Knowing Edinburgh I know where my money lies, there's glass everywhere.
Can't see a puncture but will phone the vet first thing and hope antibiotics will sort it. Fingers crosssed, he looks so sad on three legs!

Poor boy! Hope it all goes well and gets sorted soon - you've got enough on your plate at the moment anyway!

Hopped to the vets and he got a large jab of antibiotics and another of painkiller. His temperature was very high 103?! And I knew he was out of sorts cos there were two cats in baskets in the waiting room and he wasn't even botheredweirdface.gif
Couldn't find an obvious wound so he's back in the morning and being starved just in case. At tea-time he was struggling so badly on his three legs that I put him in the car and drove to the park at the bottom of my street so he could get on the grass - for some reason he refuses to poop on anything else unless really desperate.
Half an hour ago I decided to try and take him on his last thing at night walk and he not only is back to four legs but dragged me right down to the park and backsmile.gif
His paw is still very swollen but resembles a foot again so hopefully it will just be a course of antibiotics in the morning.

He's much better today, his temperature is back to normal and he livened up considerably when he found us sharing the waiting room at the vets with a rabbit! The daft new receptionist reassured me the rabbit, which was in the consulting room when we arrived, was 'in a basket'. She didn't mention it was an open one with no lid. Mason was salivating when he saw the little ears sticking out the topashamed.gif
His paw is still very big but the location of the swelling has reassured the vet it is an infection and not a fracture, so restricted walks and TLC is the order of the week.
Thanks for all your good thoughts.

I'm sure by Sunday he'll be ready for a nice walk with his GAL pals at Strathclyde Parkwink.gif
He's quite funny today, whenever I take him out he's full of enthusiasm 'yay walkies' then after about 10 minutes he seems to remember his sore foot and think better of it. I've never know him so happy to go back in the car or in the house after short forays out.
And I was very proud of him at the vets. First, he didn't eat the rabbit! And listened to my constant 'leave it' and 'look at me' commands, secondly he didn't even whimper about having his temp taken or another big jab.
He's a good boy reallysmile.gif

Thanks, I was thrilled to get another bill from the vet, right now, grrr. Just reinforced another thing that makes me crazy about Edinburgh, although I knw it happens all over.
Will just be Mason at the walk though. He's spending a few hours with his Auntie Jacqui, his favourite dogsitter in the world, while I look at houses.
