Herbal Potions
Permalink Closed

Hi I want to pick folks brains on herbal potions for arthritis in the
older dog. She can not get glucosamine or cod liver oil due to a fish
allergy. She has a bio flo collar and used CSJ herbs is there any
other potions (non Fishy) that I can give her. She has anti
infamitory from the vet to use when required but with the cold
weather and icey walks she is needing to take them more and I was
wondering if there was an alternative. Thanks Lorain and Callie

Hi Lorain

Have you spoken to anyone in a Holland & Barrett shop? My husband cannot take anything with fish/shellfish in it & had recently been thinking abt taking Glucosamine and Chondroitin until we saw the labels abt allergies. The woman in Paisley's Holland & Barrett says that you can get something (not sure if it is still called Glucosamine or under a different label) that is the same but does not have fish/shellfish in it. Of course it is dearer than normal Glucosamine surprise surprise!!!! Maybe worth a try?

Caroline

Hi lorrain
Just read your question. Don't know if you have an answer yet but Higher Nature are good for supplements and stuff. They do a vegetarian Glucosamine so therefore fish free. They are mail order. I have got stuff from them for myself and the dogs. I would recommend them as they are not expensive and deliver in a day or two. Telephone number is 0800 458 4747
Also, you could try accupuncture from a Vet who is qualified to do it. I found great results with my greyhound.
Good luck
Pauline
