I picked up "Misty" Whippet/Bedlington cross from Bothwell today. She is my second foster dog. She is lovely, a bit timid and shy and a wee bit depressed but lovely!! She is very thin but scoffed a huge bowl of food tonight so i`m hopeful she wont be skinny for long!
So far so good with my dogs and doing well with the cats (although i will be keeping an eye on her for now with the meow`s!)
She was handed in to the SSPCA by a elderly gentleman who found her running along Ladybank motorway, SSPCA think she was dumped.
She is about 3/4 years old and is soooooo cute, in a scruffy kinda way!
Took her for a nice walk, she was well behaved. She has had a shower and is now sleeping soundly.
I really like her already and so do the rest of my family, so far she is no bother. Heres hoping i can say that in a week or so when she shows her true personality!
Hi Sha, Misty sounds absolutly gorgeous, good she seems to be settling well. Keep us posted on how she goes especially once she comes out her shell. How is she geeting on with your 2 beautiful cats, What does she make of the 1 that sleeps in the fruit bowl!!!
How is your lovely Whippet has she fully recovered from her accident? hope she and the pup are well.
Misty is just a wee gem!! She has come out her shell a wee bit today, not so hand shy. Gets on fab with my dogs and has been bril with dogs she has met on walks. She has started to wag her tail and doesn`t cower so much when you try to pet/handle her. She is eating like a horse!! She seems a bit lame on her left fore leg, vet could not find anything, she is not in pain so i`m hopeful it will sort itself, when she is in better condition. She is a clean wee dog, no mess in the house so far but i`ve been letting her out lots. Last night i was crying buckets as she just looked so sad and so thin, today is better she has def cheered up. Paul says i`m turning into Bonnie Langford as i talk in a happy bunny tone all the time, anything to cheer her up and win her confidence! My own dogs seem to realise she needs TLC and they have been licking her better - more tears! I`m way to much of a softie to handle this, i shouldn`t have pets!
Nicki - she had a sniff at my wee cat today, in a nice way. I`m pretty sure she is gonna be good with cats! Oh no, you remembered they sleep in the fruit bowl! Come in and see Misty if you are passing. Ellie has recovered from her accident 100% and the pup is driving me up the wall!
I will try to post picc of Misty - Dave if you read this can you, i`m hopeless! She looks good in the photo, thank goodness she has hair, it hides how thin she really is.
I remember Misty well from my last weekend vounteer GAL day at Bothwell - She was being walked by one of the SPCA Volunteer Walkers ( they do a great job) I had out Keane at the time.
She looked very down - Great to hear that she is picking up and doing great - I know you do cry your eyes out.
But hey she has landed all right!!! In loving care
Hi Sha, thats great about Ellie and glad pup is doing well. Sounds like Misty is making good progress, keep up the good work. Would love to come and see your brood again, Will def try and pop in at some point.
I had the pleasure in meeting Misty today & she is just adorable!! Licking my hand, wagging her tail & seemed quite unconcerned that poor Sharons house had another 2 greys invading it in the shape of Murphy & Erin. Murphy was far too interested in chasing Bean (6mth of whippet) about the place at high speed but both introduced themselves to Misty & she was quite the thing about it!
Thankyou SO SO much Sharon for letting us visit & doing the cat test with Erin. I was so proud of her reaction to Mystique (what a patient lovely cat!) - lots of sniffing & interest but easily distracted....yippeee - passed the biggie test I think!!
Was lovely to meet your crew again & myself & Murphy will def pop by in the future for walkies!
See you soon. Take care & give Misty a great big hug from me!

I've got a real soft spot for scruffs - Misty is beautiful. Sha, it won't be long till the TLC you're giving her will make a big difference to her. I guess it probably has already. Hope she continues to do well - she sounds a good wee soul.
Misty has had a good day, she is quite waggy tailed and much more "up". She was really good when Suzanne brought Murphy and Erin to visit, she has def came out her shell a fair bit today. She is no bother at all. She is also fab with the cats, what a star.
Just been to see what a good job Sharon is doing with Misty what a complete sweetheart, she is such a good dog when you think what she has been through she is so trusting. Sharon has done a wonderful job with her, you wouldn't know you had a dog in the house. She has settled in so well and looks really at home. She loves her cuddles and looks a million times better now She has had Sha go to work on her.
Just know she is going to find a very special forever home., she really deserves it.
Keep up the good work Sha your doin a fab job with her.
Misty is doing really well, she is great with dogs of all shapes n sizes and fab with cats. However we "don`t do birds". We live near a pond and she just loves to chase the ducks, this is not really a prob as they always get away (so far). The real prob is SWANS!!! They are not there all the time, thankfully, but if she sees them she goes nuts! So far i`ve managed to grab her before she gets too near (she is now kept on her lead until i know the swans are not around!) My dogs don`t bother about Swans, what are your dogs like towards them??
In the first photo, i had just trimmed and blow dryed Misty`s hair! She looks all fluffy n cute! A few hours later (second photo) after rolling around in the grass, she is all scruffy again! What a girl!
Just thought i`d let you know that Misty has found her forever home. She is going to live in Edinburgh with Debs (who is just lovely & sooooo kind), Tigger the lurcher and 3 Cats! Debs will collect Misty next week. Misty has already visited Deb`s home a couple of times just to get her used to it and she has been just fine. I am so pleased as Misty is such a special wee dog.
I will miss Misty very much but Debs doesn`t live far from me so i might see Misty now and again whilst out walking. I have told Debs about the GAL Gullane Walk & she is hoping to come along.
Sha
p.s - In future what can i do to stop me getting attached to foster dogs, i`m gutted that Misty is going, but so happy for her at the same time
