Just wanted to say how awful it must have been for your family when Jacky killed the cat.  Our lurcher killed my mum's cat and it was terribly traumatic.  However, we had to accept that it was our fault.  We hadn't used a muzzle and had been very naive about Danny's preydrive.  Even though it had been thoroughly explained to us by GAL, Rachel and other GAL members.   

Since the hannibal lector moment at my mum's, I've been shocked and stunned at how many greyhounds I've met who haven't been muzzled.  Their owners ask us why we've got our two muzzled and once I've explained the cat situation, they have the balls to say "Oh, mine got a cat once, but hey ho!"  I certainly feel a little embarrassed and defensive when people challenge me about muzzling Dan and Jess.  But I have a responsibility to keep my dogs safe, from the public and from themselves.  And that's a small price to pay for the way these dogs have totally transformed my life.
