Mmm, gosh, I'm looking forward to more vets bills!

Our Denver got stung last year pushing his nose into a hedge - got him on the back.. The next day when we went past the same place again he tucked his tail up and started licking his sting again... Certainly remembered the unplesant experience.

He is now very polite to wasps and bees.

Oh poor Blue! Will we be able to see him for bandages at the next walk? There's a lot of bees and wasps about even though I'd say it's early for them yet.

Vegas must have been stung at some time as he goes on the alert when he spots a bee, but doesn't attempt to bite it. Or maybe they're something else that are small and furry he's wary of!!

just as a point of interest - how do you deal with a wasp sting on a dog - espech in the mouth?? is there anything good that soothes them eg a mild vinegar solution?? (know that helps with human stings...)

Im dreading Murphy getting stung (bound to happen)....

Yep, with wasp stings the venom is alkaline so treat with diluted acid such as vinegar.

Bee stings; try and remove the sting with tweezers - it looks like a short dark hair. Bee stings are acid so the area should be bathed with an alkaline like bicarbonate of soda.

Some dogs suffer an allergic reaction to stings and hives oppear on the face and body. Your dog may then have difficulty breathing, consult your vet at once!

P.s. Think Janie is one of the few dogs to be bitten by a snake when walking in the village! if it gonna happen it will happen to her.

I agree poor calamity Janie....... She sounds as though she has had her fair share of incidents. Having said that Blue is not far behind!

Well, I know she aint been bitten by a snake but who can contest our wee Pearly for the title of "Queen of the Accident"?

And, Nicki, you've seen her vet record, so you know this to be the truth!!!!!

Hi all

We have to keep Piriton (think it's 4Mg tabs) in the house as Sascha has twice had an allergic reaction to something (the vet thinks some kind of sting or bite). She looks really strange when it happens as her fur sticks up as if there are spots underneath and her nose looks as if it is broken in the middle because of the swelling. My vet told me to give her the Piriton right away when we see the swelling and if there is no change between 15 mins & half an hour after that then straight up to the Practice for an injection.

Blue is very lucky not to have a reaction to the stings. He obviously feels the sting as he barks at the wasp/bee he is trying to eat and jumps a bit but then he seems to forget all about it. His face doesn't swell and it doesn't stop him from doing it again!

Poor Sascha and you. There seems to have been an awful lot of wasps and bees around already and last year was dreadful for them. Hope she manages to stay sting free this year!
