Hi my daft greyhound (bovril) seems to hate most other dogs especially Black Labs .

He is 5 now we've had him for nearly 1 year how can we help him get over his fear of other dogs?.

He also hates any dog to be behind him he keeps trying to run away  from them ,I think he had been attacked at some point before we got him as he has a few scars.

.

Hiya, its funny but mine dont like labs either or collies. Maybe its their body language? Anyone any clues? On saying that Ive had a border collie in the house and they didnt care.

My dog acts exactly the same. i think its something to do with black labs being probably the most sociable dogs in the world. i have friend with one and took greyhound out with it. at first it freaked with it, but after hour or so they became friends and were playing.maybe just needs a bit of contact with one so it gets to know that it means no harm. greyhounds have poor peripheral vision and keep checking theres nothing coming up behind them. so if you can find someone with black lab to go walk with it might help.

Ah, the black Lab debate.

It seems a few of you have noticed how the black lab can cause terror amongst some of the most usually friendly dogs. This is very common.

The black Lab types have very little facial expression, as far as other dogs are concerned. This makes them very difficult to 'read', and makes communication between dogs difficult. It unnerves dogs so much, that they get anxious and go into defence mode because they just don't know how to take them.
