Well done Nina - it's fantastic to hear that Sunny is making such great progress.  Awful to think what the outcome for Sunny would have been if it wasn't for GAL!!!!  He is such a gorgeous boy too!

Took Sunny back to the vets yesterday. Thats him got his last bandage on, it is less padded that the rest to get him prepared for when he gets it off on Monday(for good)!! His sores are healing up nicely. Its going to be sooooo scary on Monday! When the vet had his bandage off yesterday his leg looks so fragile. Their legs are so boney as it is but without any fur they look like wee chicken legs!

Hi Nina

Wish I could say the same about my legs when I shave them. Fragile, they ain't!

But it's great Sunny has progressed so much in what seems to me a relatively short time. Particularly as it was quite a badly broken leg. It just shows you that all the care you've given him over the past weeks is paying off. Give yourselves a HUGE pat on the back for that!

I'm sure Sunny will continue to do well when his bandage comes off finally. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Well, thats Sunny got his bandage off!! he got it off yesterday morning and is walking on it very well. The vet gave us one of the lampshade things incase he looked like he wanted to lick his sores, we left him alone for a minute and he started licking them straight away!!! put the lampshade thing on him and he freaked out, he got sooo scared. he tried to run about to shake it off, aarrrrggghh, i told him he wasnt allowed to run about!! so whenever we are out at work we put a sock on it to stop him licking!. We've to take him back next monday to see how it is and if everything is fine he is to start doing some light walks and we will build it up from there. Iam really impressed with how much he is using it, hes so brave!!

He should win a prize on the 11th June for being 'The Bravest Boy'!!!

Aww, wonderful to hear that he's doing so well. I'd vote him "Bravest Boy" as well. He deserves a special category.

Bravest Boy, he is Nina! Sunny really deserves it - and so do you for caring for him so well! I can hardly believe that scarcely a month ago (at the Strathclyde Park walk) he was still heavily bandaged. It must be so rewarding for you to see him as he should be. But how on earth do you manage to keep a sock on his leg? We've tried this with Vegas when we're trying to prevent him licking stitches and he whips it off in the blink of an eye!

Christine,

Hi, we keep his sock on with sellotape!!!

We won't be making it to this months Strathclyde Walk as Sunny shouldn't be putting much weight on his leg but hopefully by the 11th he should impressing you all with his walking!!!

As of today Sunny is no longer our foster boy........he's our forever boy!!! We had to keep him!!! couldn't imagine him not being around, and shera likes having him around.

We told him this morning and he wagged his tail lots so i think he likes the decision!!!

Awww - that is lovely.  I can well imagine that you couldn't possibly have parted with him when you have all been through so much together.

Hi Nina

That's great news! I'll echo everything that's been said above - and Sunny must be over the moon that he has his forever home with you. Well done for all the care and love you've given Sunny to make him better!

That's wonderful news. After coping with sleepless nights and having to help Sunny so much with his broken leg you deserve to be able to enjoy him when he is fit and well. Think you've all been through too much together to part company.

Here's to many happy years together.
