He's back and feeling a bit sorry for himself. Sure he's been giving me dirty looks!! Very sleepy as to be expected and has an empty syringe case on his tail too as he wags his tail so much he keeps making it bleed - Had blood up the walls and windows yest.

Been a perfect opportunity to get 6 more brush fulls of pup/kennel coat out!

Aww, bless him. Glad to hear that the wee man is doing well. As for his tail, seems to be that a greyhound aint a proper greyhound unless they've had a poorly tail at some point in their life! Harry's tail-tip is only just healing now, and that's been well over a month.

I want to meet Sparty!!!! He needs a cuddle from his Auntie Fiona.

Well you wouldn't know Spart had the op he's been in such a playful mood, Loves playing with a football in the back garden or with a kong.

The battle with the kennel coat still goes on little piles of fuzz everywhere! Remember seeing a book once called "knitting with your dog's hair" Could set up a clothing factory with the amount we're getting from Spart.

Blue is a bit subdued not quite sure whether he is enjoying having a house mate... Blue's such a sensitive dog tho.

glad he's feeling better so soon after his op.  Give him a kiss on the nose from me!  I can sympathise with the 'happy tail' symdrome - both my girls had it when they arrived and as with Harry, it took a good month to start healing (my flat looked like a butcher's shop) I really struggled to keep any kind of dressing on their tails so in the end just let them be but avoided further tail battering by guiding them into a 'soft' zone whenever they were a bit exciteable - ie sitting room where there are only sofas to bash or outside.

Hope Blue cheers up - poor chap! but tell him not to worry - he will always be the ladies favourite 'one at a time girls!'

Indeed Blue is a bit of a ledgend with the ladies

Sparty will truely make someone a great pet, he's affectionate and very calm for a young 'un, but also very playful. I particularly liked it yesterday when Amanda was crawling over to give Blue some fuss and he started pouncing on her heels and trying to chew them!

Risked leaving Blue and Sparty together for 20mins today in the kitchen as Spart wasn't happy in the indoor kennel could very well be upsetting him after been shut in kennels causing him to get depressed?. Quick blast of emergency essence for both Spart and Myself.

Everything ok when I got back apart from bin liners and fabric conditioner on the floor - Perhaps they were trying to help me with the house work

I got home today to find that Eilidh had shredded yesterday and today's Glasgow Heralds and scattered them all over the living room floor.  Iain thought he was being so clever hiding the cushions off the sofa so she couldn't chuck them about.  Eilidh says, 'Not that clever Dad!!'

Wee devil. Not just the pups you have to watch out for.

We came home one day to find the living room looking like a wee stable (it was not long before Christmas and therefore quite appropriate!).  I had left a small packet of hay for the rabbit in the living room.  Normally we lock the dogs in the kitchen when we go out but on this day had decided to "treat" them and leave them out!!  Ha ha ha!  I just picture them throwing it all in the air shouting "whoo-hoo"!!!!  I thought it was very funny but Chas wasn't amused!!

Well, tonight Spart and I headed down to Sha's to see if young Spart could be trusted with cats. We went into the room, spart dressed in his best muzzle to see the cat. Spart seemed more interested in getting the muzzle off than savaging the cat, so Sha suggested that we try with the Muzzle off, me keeping a tight hold of his lead - so we did... Spart then seemed bored by the whole affair and lay on the floor. Sha even suggested that Spart could have a wee sniff of the cat (muzzle still off - brave lady, even braver cat), and he did, tail wagging.

He then decided that it was all a bit boring sitting listening to grown-ups talking and so started singing, he holds a tune better than Blue...

So come on folks, lets find a home for Sparty as soon as possible, before Blue teaches him what cats are REALY for!

Hi Folks

Spart done really well, he found the whole cat testing thing quite boring! Spart showed no sign of aggression whatsoever towards the cat and little interest so we let him have a wee careful sniff. I think with proper introduction to cats this wee dog will be just fine, i`d trust him.

Well done Sparty puppy dog!!!

Sha

He would look great in one of those fancy collars Sky wears! He would be in his element with two ladies as Blue is trying his hardest to teach him how to charm the girls

oooh! I could buy boy colour collars! I've seen some great ones.  I don't think I'd stand a chance of getting him though everyone is going to want that little boy

Well, I think that Blue's now officially had enough of young Sparty and his cheeky little monkey ways. Blue was on his bed this morning, and Spart came and lay next to him - Blue will tolerate this, most of the time. This time though, Sparty thought it'd be funny to try and shuffle over a bit and push Blue off the bed. Oh Sparticus, when will you learn .

Blue had spotted that the kids were eating their breakfast and so were nicely out of the way and so took this opportunity to, erm, remind Sparticus what a difference a few years and 15.5 Kg makes. Cue the biggest yelp I've ever heard and a very quick retreat to his own bed, in runs Amanda saying, "What's going on? I thought something had dropped on Sparty!".

It had, a tonne of bricks.

Still, they're getting on fine again now, I think with his memory jogged, Spart's behaving better again.

Just in case anyone's been wondering who'll be doing the "Spring Cleaning" in the auction of promises...

Phil - I just wish I had some nice grass for Spartacus to spring clean. I'd bid for his services in a minute...

What fun you must be having with him and Blue - LOL at Blue putting the young upstart in his place when he tried to oust him out of bed!

Phil took Sparty to the GAL awareness day today to meet a potential new family.

Have just heard things went so well they have taken Sparty back home with them.

It's a strange feeling as I feel sad and am going to miss him and am worried Spart will think we are just abandoning him. I am also very happy that he seems to have gone to a lovely family who have a 10 year old boy for Spart to play football with.

For all those thinking about fostering I would say go ahead. DO lean on the folks on the forum their support is wonderful as is the help from Denise, Dave and Carole R.

Unfortunatly this will be the 1 and only time we will be able to foster (Blue wasn't so keen on sharing his mum and dad) but I'm glad we did it and hope to see Spart and future events.

Well, Blue (who was Sparticus, prev. Blue) went home with his new family. They have one lovely Brindle girl called Chelsea, who's painfully shy, and hope that young Sparty (sorry Blue) will help bring her out her shell a bit. Also the have a son who wants a dog for playing with, well that ought to suit.

Good luck to them, they have promised to come on here and tell us how he's getting on.

Phil

Phil and Manda - That's great news for Blue (or Sparty)!! I know you'll be missing him dreadfully at the moment, and your feelings are mixed. But I'm sure Blue will settle well in his new home with a great playmate and another dog for company. You did your very best for him and gave him just what he was needing to find that home. Your Blue will be glad to have his Mum and Dad to himself again. Good luck to both wee Blue in his new home and yourselves for doing such a grand job!

Well done to you, Phil, Manda, Harry, Eve and Blue - looks like wee Blue has fallen on his feet, and it'll be thanks to the wonderful home that you gave him these past weeks. Here's to a very happy life for the wee man.

Hi, bluesmumanddad

Glad to hear that Spart has went to a new home, but I was also thinking of you both, as I realise it does involve some emotion. I imagine there will be an 'empty space' for a while. No doubt you will treasure the memories and the photos. What a great job you both did!
Best wishes
