Whistler is grand thanks.  He likes to sleep - a lot, roll on his back in his basket and lie with his legs in the air.

Hi Carol

Delighted that Whistler has settled in with you. I met him at the Rodeo last weekend and he was such a sweetie - he was attracting a lot of attention too from everyone walking by! Let us know how he's getting on.

That is a completely hilarious picture Carol!  Looks like Whistler has his feet firmly under your table (or his bum firmly on your couch)!!

The dogs have taken over now...can't get a seat in my own house.  Spent last night sitting on the floor.  Something tells me I might be being a bitty too soft here.  Och, but they're happy.

Carol - didn't you know that sofas were designed specifically for dogs to sleep on? I should know - I'm regularly banished to the more uncomfortable kitchen chairs. Oh well - at least my posture will be OK.

It looks as if Whistler has settled well with you all - what a great picture of them all sleeping in various poses.

Hey,

Have these dogs got things sorted or what!  What a chilled out picture. It's such a selling point  - at SPCA Bothwell  a greyhound lying prostate on the rception floor is a mega rehoming plus especially if being fussed over and preferring to chill out when stroked by loads of children etc

I'm beginning to think that greyhounds / lurchers have a whole new therapy area to exploit.

An area of total chill out - In this frantic  - on the go world we live in - if we take the lead from hounds we would chill out

So what! a work crisis! - a family emergency oh I'm away for a lie down preferably with my legs in the air. Am chilled out - things will work out

Charles

ps yip I have taken to heart the chilled out approach to life - doctors been trying for years to get me to chill out   - mmm can i get greyhound relaxation therapy on NHS  -But seriously many greyhounds doing great work as therapy / visitor dogs in OAP Homes / Hospitals etc

I have a confession to make.  I am (and probably always will be) a VERY bad foster mum.  However, in my defence, I have to say that Iain is an equally bad foster dad.

Anyone that knows me knew that the inevitable would happen.  I'm really sorry to have to report that we have decided that Whistler can no longer stay with our family as a foster dog: we've decided to adopt him permanently!!

And then there were three............

However, if anyone out there sees me fawning over another dog, or even worse, sees Denise coming towards me with another dog and a twinkle in her eye; slap me.  Do this every time until I have finally posted that I have just bought a wee cottage with a huge garden.

I'd appreciate all your support during this time.

Well done Carol and Iain!  Lucky, lucky Whistler.

Not quite sure whether the 'wee cottage' is to prevent you from having more dogs -  or the 'huge garden' is to allow you to have more dogs.  [I suspect the latter ]

Whistler was called White originally, pretty sure many of you will have seen his pic on the website.

I wasn't keen on the name but as he was 6yrs old didn't want to change it too much.  That's when I remembered the character in Blade played by Chris Christofferson, called Whistler.  He plays a gutsy and somewhat grizzled old bloke who helps Blade in his fight against the vampires.

Think it took a couple of tries and some gravy bones for Whistler to answer to his new name.

So don't worry Carol and Iain if you have any problems with vampires, you've got just the hound to have on your side.

Just make sure you feed him lots of garlic

Denise.

Hi Carol and Iain

I'm absolutely delighted that you're so bad at fostering that you decided to keep Whistler for your own. Congratulations to all of you! Whistler is a lovely boy and a great addition to your (growing) family. He looks as if he's found his niche - sprawling on the couch with Eilidh.

Of course I wouldn't slap you if you were eyeing up another dog! That's far too public (and noisy). But I could be persuaded to give you a good hard nip if you felt it was needed! Hope to catch up with you five again at one of the up and coming GAL events.

Yip Lesley, you guessed right.  Priority list for new house....

  • big garden with a patio like Dave's so I can put their beds out (that makes me so jealous).

  • spare rom big enough to sleep lots of dogs.

  • big kitchen for overspill.

  • big room for me and Iain and residual dogs.

  • maybe a kennel for boarders.

  • no neighbours within a mile radius.

Carol - your dream house is also mine! I like older properties as their rooms are so much bigger and they also tend to have interesting nooks and crannies. Modern houses are so bland with rooms the size of shoeboxes! I like to describe properties as being a two dog house, four dog house etc. Never mind, it's good to dream and some of them do come true. No doubt I'll win the lottery in the week I don't need it!

Carol,
I think you adopting Whistler was inevitable.
When I saw him at the Rodeo - I couldn't keep my eyes and sometimes my hands off him (he is just sooo soft), and everytime I saw him I couldn't help saying "he is gorgeous". I heard he's a lovely character too.
Best wishes to you all
