Thought I would tell you about Sandy who we have been fostering since the beginning of December last year. He is a great old man, with lots of character. After spending 13 years in a kennel, he has taken to the house like a duck to water. After a stressful first week, he settled in quickly, although he is quite elderly there havent been as many problems as we had anticipated, fostering an old dog. We also have a 2 year old greyhound called Abi, and a kind of bearded collie called Holly, and there have been no problems at all with them all getting along with each other. Its a privilege to have him with us and know that we are helping to make the time he has left as happy as possible.
Hi Tracey - I am very interested to hear about Sandy - how lovely he looks. Only a few weeks ago we adopted Suzie who will be 10 in August, so I am delighted to hear that Sandy is going strong at 13.
Hi Folks, it's with great sadness that I have to announce Sandy was PTS yesterday afternoon, he had deteriorated over the last few weeks to the point where he couldn't get up out of his bed on Wednesday morning. Tracey and David took the decision to let him go. Sadly old age simply caught up with him.
Tracey and David are understandably upset but I'd like to personally thank them for taking on Sandy last December at such an old age, it takes a lot to adopt or foster the oldies. Sandy spent the best 7 months of his life with them after living in kennels for 13 years, I'm sure he enjoyed every minute of his last months..
This is so sad. Tracey and David - I know how upset you must be just now but you gave Sandy the very best 7 months of his life. He must have loved his home comforts after living in a kennel for all these years. I love his photo - he's a handsome and well cared for dog who didn't look his age! My thoughts are with you both.
Tracey & David - my heart goes out to you all at this tought time....
well done for making Sandys life worth living...im sure he will remember his last months with you over all his kennelled years...you are true gems for giving him that chance!!!
run free sweet Sandy....

What sad news he was a truley beautiful boy. Glad he had the love and comfort he needed in his final months. It must be heart breaking for Tracey and David. xx
Dear old Sandy - how very sad. He had a lovely last few months and he looks so sweet in the pic. Well done for giving him a happy, peaceful time at the end of his life.
Tracey and David are truly great foster people. Sandy was well cared for and used to come the occasional walk with 8 of mine. I had the pleasure of keeping him when they were on holiday and he came in and fitted into the pack.
It says a lot for people taking old dogs as they need that extra tlc and they did a great job.
He might not be there any more but im sure he will be the topic of many conversations when we are out walking.
its always so very sad to lose that special person in your life. i'm really pleased that the gorgeous old boy had such a happy last few months - after the sadness passes, that is something to be very proud of. they don't ask for a lot and to have given Sandy so much takes very special people.....well done to Tracey and David
So sorry to hear about poor old Sandy. You did a wonderful job with him and I'm sure he absolutely adored you both for giving him true love in the last few months of his life. You are very special people for taking on an older dog and making his last few months very happy ones.
Shirley
