Trei, joined us at short notice from SPCA Bothwell - one of those emergency things.
The GAL volunteers at Bothwell have been working hard every Saturday for mant weeks to rehome Trei ( note GAL now have a volunteer every Saturday at SPCA Bothwell) We managed to rehome him twice but in each case he was returned -the reason given on first occasion was separtaion anxiety the second that he was peeing in the house.
Ok seperation anxiety not a problem in my flat as Trei has 3 other dogs for company. Funny thing in the 30 hours he has been with me he has not peed in my flat or doenanything else. He is just chilled out.
He going through my cat testing routine - we will see how he turns out
It just seems dogs respond to a settled, calm environment, with a routine. With a leader ( top dog - ME ) in total control.
Charles - Snap, Mick, Cleo and Finn the cat
ps hope to bring Trei to Langbank Awareness Day on Saturday14th
Great news, Charles. I'm sure Trei will continue to do well in your care. Your experience and good sense will make all the difference to him. Let us know how he's getting on. Hope Saturday at Rachel and Eddie's goes well for all of you.
Just to say I'm enjoying my stay with Charles and his crew. I so chilled out I've forgotten about my seperation anxiety and thoughts about having a pee in the house.
Funny that! and I was labeled a difficult dog - but hey that Charles - he does not respond to my moves - aghhhhh he is the boss so I will just have to grin and bear it. But hey if he is the boss I dont have to worry about a thing. He will make sure that I'm ok so I can chill out.
Mind you I still have to watch out that I don't step out of line with that Mick and his chief female Snap. I need to watch as Mick keeps an eye on his wee girl Cleo.
As for that cat- Finn - He has the run of the kitchen, bathrrom and bedroom - lying out in the sun on the bed. It's not fair.
I know that I'm supposed to get all excited with cats. I get worked up - but hey when charles says 'NO' I get the message - Not worth the effort -What better than a chill out in one of the doggie beds, the duvets or even on the sofa - if that Cleo has not occupied it.
But hey Charles says I have a lot going for me now I'm with him and been properly assessed -he says I'm a very special greyhound-
I'm neutered - aghhhhhhhhh I'm ID chipped, I'm fully wormed, flea treated and vacinated. and I'm house trained mmmm, I'm ok with seperation anxiety if I have another dog or dogs living with me. Also I'm fab with children and normal sized dogs.
Charles says I'm still in training with cats and small dogs. whatever that means. Suppose he means when I tarined I get access to all of the house - like Mick and Snap - then i'm ok I get to assocaite with that cat Finn. MMM perhaps I get to lie on that bed in the sun.
I've heard a rumour that it was - 'curtains for me' last Wednesday at SPCA. How come I was to be despatched - when I'm such a great guy! I know things did not work out my last two homings - but Charles says he cannot find fault with me. Well all I'm saying is he should know given I'm his no 9 foster dog. But hey after that rumour I'm keeping my head down. I know I'm a lucky guy. Well that cat has 9 lives but not sure how many I have as a greyhound>
Trei
ps Charles said he would have kept me but Cleo beat me to it. I must be a special guy if Charles says that. I know he will only let me go to a very very special home. Applications invited for that xtra special home with those xtra nice doggies note that Charles he still bitbehind with his computing skills- so can't get that lovely pic of me online
Trei - I'm looking forward to meeting you at one GAL's events - that is unless you find your xtra special home in the meantime. You're a very good and special boy and after your previous experiences you deserve the best. Good luck to you, wee man!
Hi Trei - I really enjoyed meeting you at Langbank yesterday.
At the risk of making you bigheaded I have to say that I agree with Charles's assessment of you - friendly, laid back, gentle on the lead. A charmer!
If you find you can manage to get on with Finn so much the better - people will be queueing up to offer you a new home (that's if Charles can bear to part with you).
Am doing great! I went with my foster friend , Cleo, to the vet on Thursday. Charles sneaked me in for a quick eye check! And - hey I've got eye drops- But hey - my left eye is not good. not good sight. Charles is testing out with a torch - see how my eye resonds.
But all I can say - I'm mega chilled with sight of a a sofa , duvet and the cat etc etc
PS Charles says I'm laziest hound he has ever had - think he means that I drop to ground as soon as possible - during walks etc - If he stops then I drop. he says I'm classic theraputic hound.
Good to hear you're doing so well and I'm sure it won't be long before you find a new home.
I took you out for walks a couple of times at Bothwell and I thought you'd fainted the first time you dropped to the ground! Very laid back boy, hope to see you again soon. x
We have had a bit of a set back with Trei and Cleo and their house training. Part of the problem is that one follows the other. So I have instigated a rigourous retraining process. Aghh very early rise, out often and late to bed etc.
Part of my problem is making sure they 'go' last thing at night around 11.00pm - the local foxes are out and about most night so we see them. The girls and boys forget, in the excitment, what they are supposed to be doing. I lose track of who has done what etc etc.
End up cursing the foxes as they just stand still 20 yards away and goad the dogs - One of these nights I'll be tempted to ********
LOL I can imagine the foxes taunting the dogs from a distance and how frustrating it must be for you to know that they've forgotten what they're out there to do.
I'm sure with perseverance, all your patience will be worth it. Do you take all the dogs out together last thing at night, or just Cleo and Trei? It may help to separate them - you know - take Cleo out with Mick first, then Trei out with Snap to see if it makes a difference. If they follow each other, it might help. But it would mean double walks for you at that late hour! Just a thought.
I enjoy my Glasgow west end flat with Charles and his other dogs and that cat. It very comfortable as there is a bed or sofa for everyone. Mind you can be musical bed and sofa.
I do keep doing the odd pee in the flat and I get a frosty look form Charles but hey I forget after 4 years that I can't just let go.
Mick likes to bite my neck every day but I'm too chilled to notice - think he's trying to tell me his is boss. I know my place so dont ever react. Hey man! I'm too chilled for that stuff.
I like to bark at that cat when I see it. Hmmm it gets to lie on the bed on top of the duvet. Why do I not get that priveledge.
So I'm still on look out for a home where there are are some other hounds - I don't mind if they want to be top dog - am not bothered. I don't react. Not sure about cats though! And I need a home where the odd peed will not be held against me.
Looking forward to vetting some new homes - I like my comforts and nice food and loads of treats. I also like lots of trips out in the car and visits to other homes.
Trei
a gorgeous greyhound girl or a lurcher babe would be welcome
I'm just back from a few holiday in East Fife with Mick, Snap and Cleo with Charles
MMMM Charles wanted me to bathe my feet in the sea and to splash my wee wound caused by Snap biting.
MMMM salt water heped my wound heal - but hey the space and the view of the beach and the sea was mega cool . Charles only allowed Mick and Snap off the lead - muzzles on - aghhhh
Glad you had a marvellous time in East Fife on the beach with Mick, Snap, Cleo and Charles. What - no cat? But I don't think cats enjoy beaches as much as dogs!
Hope your little wound is healing nicely. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
We all slept the whole day yesterday back home - all of that sea air. Strange new things to see and smell like horses.
We all ended up on Elie Beach - and guess what we went on the dog free bit by mistake. Mick and Snap raced each other for a few hundred yards. It was funny to see Mick try to pick up a piece of seaweed through his muzzle.
We say a greyhound in Anstruther - did not get to speak to the owner as I was driving the van at the time.
