Am progressing my flat upgrade! At mo my lounge is - painted flooring chipboard panels - it's great for new foster hounds and my own crew who delight in the odd pee.
Am looking for advice for best new flooring - ie thats over existing basic chipboard flooring. Options include total remove and replace chipboards with complete new pine floor boards, , or new complete viny roll or tiles or veneer stuff, etc etc
Am aimimg for regular pees!! on new floor

PS my van is a delight - I can brush and hose down
We have solid wood - which is not terribly practical if pee'd on. The waxed finish comes off (but can be redone) and the pee goes between the boards - difficult to clean.
I would go for a really nice vinyl flooring - like Rhinofloor which is gorgeous.
There seems to be so many types of flooring to choose from! I prefer good old fashioned carpet for the front room (nice & cosy in winter) especially as we have concrete floor (not so good for accidental pees & keeping clean though). In the kitchen we have laminate flooring (the design is waterproof & impact resistant), great for all those sloppy drinks. With this laminate we have never had problems until a few weeks ago because of nice weather the back door has been kept open to let them go into the garden when they please. One day Max in excitement ran at top speed through the kitchen to get outside, and because of his speed he slipped, so he was rather scared of it for a day or so, made worse by the fact he would approach it tentatively then scurry as fast as he could to get across it!! Yesterday he was walking behind me and caught his foot in the back of my slipper and went sliding again - returning a wee fear again! Tyler does not have a problem with this floor (gentle dainty girl that she is)! However, we have vowed not to get laminate for the front room because of their wild antics when playing with toys.
Good luck Charles, people have given good tips here!
Hi Lita - our two slip on the wooden floor too. But we have rugs and they know to play their games on a rug.
However - the hall rug is long and narrow and gets scooted across the hall when they are jumping around inside waiting for me to come in. Sometimes their beds take a flyer too if leapt into from a distance, but fortunately the beds can't go far because they are against a wall in a corner.
Reminds me of when we were kids and used to slide up my grandmother's hall on the rug. We weren't supposed to and we probably made the hall dangerously slippy for the poor grandparents!
We have carpet throughout, except the kitchen which is vinyl tiles (which badly need replacing - Charles, want to come and lay some new ones for us when you get your lounge sorted........?). At the minute, we put down a lot of newspaper in the kitchen - where the dogs sleep - when we go to bed in case our new addition, Barney, has an accident during the night (which so far he hasn't!!). This soaks up most of the liquid and stops it soaking too much in between the joins in the tiles.
We are really lucky in that we live in a bungalow, with a fully enclosed garden, and can leave the patio doors open almost all day allowing the dogs to come and go as they please, which means very few accidents indoors. If the inevitable happens we always have a bottle of 1001 Carpet Shampoo handy and clean the mess up as soon as it's noticed (which isn't always when it has happened!!)
No matter what you choose you can guarantee one of your brood will make sure it is well watered in!!
