JJ's Name?
Permalink Closed

When we got JJ we kept the name he'd been given and I have always wondered how he got it.   I think Nicki named him when she rescued him from being PTS as an 8 week pup with broken leg.   Does JJ stand for Jumpin Jack by any chance?   Can pups with broken legs jump - hounds with well mended legs certainly can!!

Hi,

The beautiful JJ, glad to hear he has settled well with you and is keeping you on your toes, remember when he was a pup, boy he was a handfull!! He was nemed JJ after my 2 Greyhounds, Janie who I still have and my gorgeous, handsome boy Jim who I had lost a good while before. I soon realised that his name really suited his personality, as you say a jumpin jack he was, only happy when he was doing things he shouldn't of been doin, racing around at 100mph, leaping like a gazelle, tormenting the living daylights out of Janie, he was supposed to be getting strict cage rest, however JJ had other ideas and he is one of the few dogs i know that has, while trying to dig his way out, managed to collapse his indoor kennel onto himself, oh the noise he made, luckily he was fine and once out started to race about like a headcase, little devil a right fiesty wee character!

Dave sent me a pic of him, wow he has all grown up, at a handsome boy he is too. Hope he has kept some of his fiesty personality So pleased he has gone to a forever home and he will be loved and cherished.

Really hope to meet you at a GAL event sometime and hear all about how he is getting on.

Give JJ a big hug for me.

Love Nicki and janie.x

Thanks Nicki.   I think names have a certain power and I'm sure JJ gets something positive from his now that I know how he got it.

I like the stories of his mishaps - he can still be a bit of a monkey.   I laughed at all the tales on the forum about dogs stealing the tea etc - yeah, he can do that!   The time he had the hot cross buns the packet got munched too.   He also pinches kids' cuddly toys, although nowadays he will "leave" and I don't have to chase him all over the house so we are going in the right direction.   He likes to lull us into a false sense of security by seeming to be comatose but as soon as we leave the room he's there, trying to get into any stray pot/packet/bag/bowl - not to be trusted at all.

JJ has a best friend that we walk with, a Springer Spaniel.   The two of them spend the entire time growling and barking at each other and racing about like daft things, tails wagging madly - they don't do it when walked separately or with different dogs, it must be a lad thing!

We are hoping to take him along to the walk on 5 June as the children will be with their grandparents - I don't have enough eyes or arms to bring them and the dog.   Hopefully we will see you sometime.

Thanks again.
