Sorry that Bovril's wrist is injured but I'm sure that in a few days time after he's rested it and taken his tablets, it'll be fine.

I'm not sure if it's a common thing amongst the greyhounds and lurchers in GAL as quite a few of them are on the lead all of the time for their walks. But Vegas suffers a sprain every now and again when he's running off the lead. I put it down to the joys of having an athlete in the family! When he's had a few days rest and on the lead for walks, he puts the injured leg down and walks on it normally. From there, I build up the amount of time he's off the lead until he's getting his usual exercise.

Hope Bovril is better soon and doesn't skite about so much, especially on his knees! Give him a big hug from me.

Hi, Denise - sorry to hear about wee Bovril. I think it is very common. Certainly, both our two have joint problems, despite being only 3 years old.

Pearly has some thickening of cartiledge in her right front leg (at the elbow). She used to limp after off-lead running but since she's been on daily Synoquin glucosamine/chondroin supplements she's absolutely A-okay.

Harry has a poorly right front wrist, and in fact we've had him to the vet about it a couple of times. He limps after running - not immediately after, but when he gets up after having been lying around. We've put him on the same supplements (he's on the loading dose at the mo; Pearly is on maintenance) and we're taking him to the vet on Friday for x-rays (I'm hoping that Nicki will be working then, so she can look after my baby boy). We suspect that he's had a break or other injury that hasn't been given a chance to heal properly. Like Boril, he can't extend it to fully straight, nor bend it back as much as it should.

We give them Metacam for pain relief if they need it, and we've recently got some Rimadyl as the vet told us that it works faster (taking about an hour to work, compared to Metacam's 4 hours or so).

Hope wee Bovril's wrist feels better very soon. Greyhounds, eh? Bless them!

Hi Bovrils a wee bit better we have just shortened his walks much to his disgust!

He wont rest though still belts up and down the stairs and round the garden,

Bovril says hi to everyone and has found a new food ROAST BEEF if he could have reached the work surface it would have been snaffled in a second.Cheers for now Denise and Bov.
