Can I ask a stupid question? What's a D.A.P. diffuser?

DAP stands for Dog Appeasing Pheramone, basically some french scientists found out that dogs calm down if they smell this pheramone (which apparently smells just like a Mummy dog's nipples - all very Freudian). They also worked out how to synthesise it (so no, it isn't actually Mummy dog's nipples), and you use it with a plug-in diffuser.

We used it with Blue, when he was waking early - and it did have some success, also with my Mother-in-law's old Cocker Spaniel.

Hi Everyone,

I bought a D.A.P Diffuser and a D.A.P. Spray for Snap's firework / loud bang fear. It does seem to help her but is most effective if you can start Diffuser prior to the fearful situation.

We tried the DAP diffuser last year for firework fear; had it switched on constantly for 3/4 weeks but it didn't seem to help much at all. Maybe if its combined with the spray it might be better?! or maybe it depends on the dog.

Yip I think the diffuser provides a backgound effect - but for the emergency the spray has better response. Few sprays towards her nose.

Snap goes into panic shaking mode almost imediately - It happened last on the Saturday when Ranger won Leaugue. The fire works went up in Maryhill at end of match.

She had the shakes right away. I hsd not predicted the booming fireworks on that day.

She just does not understand the noise - all my other dogs just lie there chilled out

I think a lot of Rangers fans had the same reaction.

The firework thing is a bit of a worry in this household too. One of the dogs is completely unfazed, while the other is a nervous wreck. You'd think that one of them being calm would help the other one, but it doesn't seem to work that way.

Now that is going through a calm period - she is saying she is not prepared to say which Glasgow football team she supports - It's way too personal for her.

However she is open to football season contracts of greyhound football colur coats with advertising. Please contact her agent Charles.

She wanted to add that Charles stuck one of those firework cds on. All she says was - ' Hey I could tell those sounds were coming out of those speakers! I got to put up with loads of trashy noises coming out of them normally.

But a fireowk outside - I know - I get the shakes right away!
