Basic IKEA Leather Sofas Hound Proof
Permalink Closed

Hi Everyone,

Just to say that my crew recommend basic IKEA leater sofas. At a pinch a basic leather covered easy chair is fine. ( I'm not aware that they have an advertising contract with IKEA as yat)

However if they want to strech then it require 1 sofa each.   Four sofa - perhaps not.

Cleo just loves her special spot at one end of the sofa,  She even stays put when we are all going out. As a wee girl she does not wnat to get off the sofa and in the scrum with Mick, Snap and Trei. She waits till everone is on the lead including her - before moving.

On a practical note - the IKEA  leather sofa is proving ideal for low maintannce. It's low cost means if one of the gang ripped it to bits - then whioe a pfianacil problem - not major issue

I've found my previous cotton / fabric covered sofas nd chairs were a nightmare to keep clean.

Should explain - my flat has one door - - a tiny entance hall leads into my lounge - so  muddy winter times are nightmare. So muddy, we and shaking hounds aghhh

Any other views on comfy hound proof furniture - let me know

Charles

I can sympathise, Charles! We have white walls - well, they used to be white. The whole area in our narrow passage between kitchen and lounge needs painting - again!! Vegas takes a great delight in reaching that narrow bit and shakes half the field on to the walls.

I also agree with you about the cotton suites and how difficult it is to keep them clean. I have umpteen throws constantly in the wash - but Vegas prefers to lie on the sofa without the throw. When we've been out, we invariably find the throw scrunched up in a corner of the sofa, cushions on the floor and Vegas stretched out on the naked sofa looking very pleased with himself. So the Ikea leather suites could be a great investment in time and cleaning materials for us too.

Hi Christine,

The leather  sofa just need a wipe down - it will need bit of leather feeding. But so far it 's saved me loads of work. endless washing of sofa covers etc

Hoover off the hairs and then songe down.

But main thing the hounds love lying on it  - Especially Cleo - he has her special spot/corner.

They do moan that I could not stretch to a larger model. A 3 seater.

Slowly my flat is being converted to hound proof  standard - Why Cos I'm a lazy B*****d at heart and my country up bringing - Cleaning has a low priority. Whats a bit of mud on the floor.  lol

Any visitors to my flat - please note - hound standards rule   and there is often a whiffof dog pee in the air

But  I would recommend   the basic IKEA leather sofa - friends coming for a meal - quick sponge around and hey presto !!!!!!!

The meal is another matter!!!!
