Hoping to bring JJ to his first GAL walk on Sunday. Not sure how he'll react. Dogs are his passion and whilst he's no real trouble off lead he can be a complete pain on the lead when he sees a dog. On the other hand, he steers clear of the dog walkers and their gangs. I'll either be bobbing around on the end of the lead as he attempts to greet each and every one of the 60 dogs present or falling over him as he glues himself to my leg!
Any GAL walk etiquette that we should be aware of?
Don't worry, Rebell - there's no etiquette as far as I'm aware. It's just great meeting everyone at the walks - we're all used to dogs so no one will bat an eyelid at JJ's enthusiasm greeting all the dogs and their owners. I certainly hope to be there to meet you and JJ (and everyone else of course)!
The walk is all about hounds/lurchers and their owners meeting up.
No one is bothered if one of the hounds is playing up! They seem to know itr's a greyhound outing so best behaviour is expected - So soon calm down after initial excitement
The greyhound brother/sisterhood (think it's a secret society and us humans are manipulated)
I know with my crew it's more of a problem taking them out on my local grass area , for a pee several times a day, than letting them out of van, at the GAL walk.
