Hi Anna, it could be signs of her going into season, bitches tend to get pretty grumpy when in season, that said has there been any signs of bleeding or over interest in her back end by male dogs, I didn't see any evidence of the later at the walk today (but then I was pretty busy!) More likely she's got over her settling in period and has decided to see how high up the pack she can get...suggest emailing Carole (GAL's follow up co-ordinator) for some good advice carole@gal.org.uk

cheers

Dave

hi thanx dave for ur thoughts she was fine getting sniffed at on sunday.i know u were busy on sunday but as me being new at this lark thought id ask for opinions.shes very sorta sleepy not jumping up when she sees our coats going on, . ive noticed her tail isnt going up as per usual excitment its well down.the dog next door is on hers.as u said she might see others as a threat to me and robert theres that to consider to read that in another posting on forum.ive had to start putting her muzzle back on and she doesnt like it but safety first eh....

oh i like the new references to people really good.

might see u on saturday at dog show see how things pan out here..ill keep an eye on her ladyship . see how she goes.

:woot:just got the call this afternoon shes going in on the 27th to get her teeth done and she is getting sorted to depending on whether the vet agrees to do it at the same time but the rescue centre told me id have to wait till shes had a season to get her done not true they can get done anytime it doesnt matter whether shes on or after the need to get their info right she went bonkers at 2 dogs today on female the other was a male and the male was draging her walker nearly knocking her off her feet to get to taylor.shes also made  a liar outa me she had a daft 5 minute run about with her squeeky chicken running mad biting into the toy the squeek driving her nutty to.wot am i gonna do with her.so depending on wot happen at vets i might not take her to the next strathy walk we will see.

thanx dave .

Hi,

How is Taylot doing these past few days?  I agree with what Dave said about about bitches getting grumpy during their season.

I,ve found with my bitch Snap, that she is top female I have to watch her with other doga on walks. She has a particular aversion to black collies. No doubt she had a  'experience' with one in the past.  She is protective of the acre of grass open space next to my flat. All my dogs think this is their private garden and other dogs should keep off.

I now walk Snap with a muzzle on - as it makes things easier for me. She tends to starts getting excited  if she does not like look of a dog.and then lashes out and it's my other dogs that get bitten.  ( apart from greyhound days when she is fine)   The dogs are all much more protective when on the lead. The hardest situations are usually when other dogs off the lead come rushing up.  It is usually seen as a  threat to the pack so things can go to defence mode. Growls baring of teeeth etc. So if you expect any problems best to  keep using muzzle during her walks.

As Dave said as dogs settle in and start ot feel relaxed they do try and see what they can get away with -  to see if they can get a higher position in the pack.  It 's an going process and you have to make sure that the dog is not becoming more doinant than any of the humans in the house

I use the recommended techniques - feeding after me,  pretend to be eating the dogs food before putting it down, me out door first,  making sure that I put a dog off a chair if I want to sit on it.   They get the message that number one.
