I have wondered about this and would also be interested to see the answer.  Sim and Suzie are both very pink underneath (Sim more so being fawn and white).

Nabbed off the web:

"Some dogs get sunburn. Just like fair-skinned people, white haired dogs are sensitive to sun exposure. White cats and cats with white ears and noses are very susceptible to sunburn so it is important to keep your cats and dogs inside more on very sunny days and to talk to your veterinarian about the occasional use of sunscreens."

Who'd have thunk it?

I use sunblock on Pearly. She has a white bottom, and right under the "business" bit is quite pink and baldy cos she's always wagging her tail. I use the stuff that's suitable for sensitive skins. Seems to do the trick.

Hi,

You could perhaps hire a flunky to hold a large umbrella over your dog when lying out in garden and during walks.

Or is that taking things too far???

Yes, that definitely would be taking things too far!!!!  However, I have seen in the Kleneze catalogue an umbrella on a lead!!  Mind you, I think it would probably only work with teeny, small dogs!  Not sure it would cover much of a grey!!

hehehehe, i saw that umbrella thing too - how embarrassing for the poor babies!

dave and daisy v hot at the moment so have had the fan pointing at them- that helps indoors but not out.  have also heard that suncream is good for animals, especially the white/bald bits, so will get some for our kids
