Well I got home from work today and Glenda was on the phone to the Vet, a few minutes before I got home Suzie had fallen in the garden and ripped most of her dew claw off and was hobbling around in a bit of pain with a bit of blood coming from the claw, it was pretty painful for her and she wouldn't let us touch it, so right in the car and up to the vets with her. I got her into the exam room and the vet said ''ah it's Suzie, what age is she now?'' ''just past 13'' I said, ''awww'' said the vet, ''didn't we give her a dental about a year ago'', ''yeah'' I said, ''she's only got 2 teeth left now''. ''good'' said the vet ''that makes it a bit easier, hold her head''. So I grabbed her collor and got a quick hold of her mouth, the vet took a pair of tweezers out of his drawer and before I even had time to say ''will it hurt'' he grabbed the dew claw and pulled it right out.
I'm still not too sure who was more surprised, me or Suzie, there was defo a 5 second gap between the claw coming off and Suzie even realising summit was up! Well hats off to him, probably the best £7.50 I've ever spent at a vets!!
Ow! Sounds as if it hurt - but only for a moment! Suzie's dew claw was quickly and least painfully dealt with by your vet, Dave. Hope Suzie's OK now. Give her a big hug from me - she's a brave girl and I think that deserves a nice pilchard or two in her dinner!
Oooyah, that's a sair yin! Pearly sends her sympathies to Suzie cos she did the same thing some months back. The yanking out itself wasn't too bad, but the washing it out thoroughly with salty water was pretty horrid......
