Hi,

You don't say how recent the 5 or 6 times were, but if its very recent, it may be worth a trip to the vets to rule out infection in the bladder. They test the urine for other things as well as infection. Of course you need to suss out if its behavioural - has there been any changes in routine or the household that could have caused a bit of stress for Lulu?

You can see a postings under the section on the forum 'Health Issues - female urinary incontinence' which may be of interest.

I suspected urinary incontinence with our Tyler due to her age (7 1/2), and I had been monitoring her leakages for a few months and realised it wasn't behavioural. Unfortunately in some females even when they're not that old, neutering can trigger off incontinence.

I hope you manage to get it sussed out and its not too serious. I hope to hear how you get on.

This has been intermittent and I suspect that it is behavioural. If it becomes frequent the I'll take her to the Vet. There has been no real change to her routine, in fact Sunday was fairly typical with lots of running about. So much so that I had to waken them both this morning.

I'll keep you posted on any further developments.

We've had this problem recently with Keera too. The most recent being this morning..Jim had the 3 of them out at around 0630 which is their normal time (if not it's 0430 when I'm on early shift) and by the time I came downstairs at 0745 she had peed on her bed. She too goes all night with no problem. As one of us is always around..we work opposite shifts... the 3 pooches are in and out all day. I don't think we've changed anything about our routine so I too will keep an eye on it in case a vets visit is required.

I don't want to over alarm anyone but I felt I had to post on this one -

It's VERY unusual for any dog to pee in it's bed, it's PARTICULARLY unusual for a Greyhound to pee in it's bed..

A one-off pee in the bed is probably 'one of those things' and certainly no cause for a vet visit

Intermittent bed wetting is probably a behavioural problem and again probably no cause for a vet visit.

Regular bed wetting is defo a vet visit but possibly behavioural.

Alan, keep an eye on Lulu and if you have any concerns pls call Carole our follow up.....(remember also in might not be Lulu!)....

I'll keep a watch on this. I'm 99.9% sure it was Lulu. Douglas was on the couch with me all the time. Mind you Sheena went through to make a coffee....................mmmm

We had a wee problem with Zelda when we first took her home.

Every night she would wet her bed. Eventually we discovered that it was separation anxiety....she was shut in the kitchen at bedtime.

Once we left the doors open through the house she decided that the living room would be her ladyships bedroom and even though she was not in the bedroom with us, she seemed reassured that she could peep in at us. This seemed to be enough to stop the behavioural problem....and she's been dry all night since.

Hope Lulu's peeing sorts itself out - does sound like something is upsetting her.

Dave mentioned that it is very very unusual for greyhounds to pee the bed - well, when our Pearly was in kennels she used to poo and pee her bed as if she was pooing and peeing for Scotland! Was a daily routiine which was unstoppable - no matter how many times she went to the loo she'd lay a cable in her bed or pee the covers. She did this for months and months, and barked liked a loon, and did circles every time anyone visited the kennels. This was the main reaosn she was in kennels for such a long time. Anyway - when we took her in we crated her for small periods during the day and overnight - for approx 6 months - and then we could trust her not to squat and do it all over our carpets.

We've had had no accidents from her for months until last week. Came downstairs overnight to find the big bin turned over and food wrappers strewn across the kitchen floor. However, our other grey Harry had most of the wrappers in and around his bed so we are 100 per cent that it was him! Pearly did leave her mark though - she must have got very excited and dropped a number two right in the middle oif the kitchen rubbish. We could tell it was hers do to its colour- what a star!

Anyway, I suppose what I'm saying, in a long winded way, is that the pee problem is something you'll be able to sort out relatively quickly I reckon. As someone suggested, find out what's different in the routine and start from there.

i was always under the impression that it was very unusual for an animal to soil its own bed area but daisy peed on her bed a few times when we first got her. it only seemed to happen when someone new had come to the house (dave did it on our bed for the same reason!). it has now stopped so we sussed that it was because of the upset in their routine. however, that doesn't sound like your problem so i wish you well with finding a resolution.

Thanks everyone for your posts. Dave, from the number of posts it would seem that this problem is not that unusual. I'm not concious of any routine change which could have affected Lulu. I'll just have to see how it goes.

I would add that both dogs have settled in well and have no other issues.
