Thanks to everyone for the encouragement its really nice to hear.
I forgot to mention that out of the 9 visible ribs he's now down to 6 visible so he's now only got a min of 4 more ribs to disappear under some body fat and he will look absolutely terrific.
I will get some more pictures of him soon. The ones I took today are not brilliant.

Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lifes whole.........
1. The person isn't me its my sister Evelyn 2. Dusty our lurcher is in the fore-ground 3. On the bank from left to right is Zak, Max and then Missy. Note that Zak had spotted me taking the photo as you can see he is looking directly towards me.
Zak looks quite small but he was standing in a dip on the bank and Missy was standing on a rise.
Zak is going to make someone a great pet - I've still had no issues with him.
Great photos - and Zak is looking fantastic! What a difference a bit of TLC makes. I'm delighted that he's settled down with all of you so well. You're doing a grand job!
Another bandage change.... his wound is looking pretty good considering. The skin is starting to grow back across the raw skin and is healing nicely.
Weighed him and yes he's gained again ..... he's now 33kg
Well done Zak
As he has done so well with gaining weight and his wounds are healing, I've now booked in for his neutering for the beginning of November - lets hope everything goes well for him. Shhhhhhh ! don't tell Zak!
great pictures Katrina, he really is a lovely looking boy, I cant help thinking about him every time I put my trousers on, you know the ones he pee'ed on......I can't help thinking how much he looks like Missy, what a smashing pair they would look together...
Zak went again lastnight to the vet for another bandage change. As he's booked in on Wednesday for the chop he's also going to get a tooth pulled and his wrist wound stitched. There has been sufficient new skin grown to allow it to be stitched together now which is good news. It will also reduce the bandage changes required.
So the poor lad won't know what to feel sorry for the most.... his missing tooth (sore gum), Sore Leg or Sore B s!!
He's not gonna be talking to me after this !!!
Will keep ya posted as to how he gets on next week.
Its because he doesn't have anymore worms eatiing his dinner !!!
The first week was three meals a day.
Second week was two meals a day with added calories like pasta and rice - stodge !
Third week onwards two standard meals a day.
I use food products from Purena - Omega and Beta Greyhound which also helps to keep the poops solid enough for the dogs to extract a lot of nutrients etc.
I'm currently trying out the Beta Greyhound which is slightly higher in protein as our Missy is struggling with her pooo's. Looks like it might be working... she finally had a very solid poo which I've not seen from her before.
Zak does get the treats aswell as all the others and he is also a rather large tealeaf. The thing is he can reach further onto the counter tops than Missy.
12 hrs to go !! Til he loses his plums (oh and his tooth) ! Don't tell Zak !
Now on starvation until morning so guess the other pooches can't have treats as it would be unfair on poor old Zak.
Keeping everything crossed for Zak and hoping everything goes fine for him. Will let you know how things are once he leaves the vet without his horse !!
Good Luck Zack. We will be thinking of you. And you know that Missy will be waiting patiently for you coming home. And mum Katz will be there to give you loads of tlc too.
He is quite bright considering what he's had done but I guess its the pain killer keeping him that way but he does nod off when he lays down.
The vet has had to drill out a rear molar which could be a bit painful tomorrow and had of course removed the plums. Apparently he was a bit of a big boy in the plum department so we are to expect some swelling. He's also back on antibiotics as the tooth was infected aaaaahhhhhh !!!
He's just had a lovely dinner of tuna and scrambled eggs and will probably get another meal before bed as he's absolutely starving hungry.
When we arrived in the vets the first thing I said to my daughter Rosie was..... "Thats Zak!" He was howling the surgery down.....probably saying .... Get me Out of here or I want my MUMMY !!! wa wa waaaaa !!!
I'd bet the vets were glad to see the back of him IF he's been howling all afternoon.
Missy today has been a nightmare... everytime I moved she would be on my heals... I guess she has been missing Zak! Awwwwe ARE THEY IN LOVE
Anyways Zak is doing fine so far - will let you know tomorrow how his night was.
Glad that Zak's op is over and he's home to recover! He seems very well considering what he's been through - and I'm sure he'll enjoy all the TLC you'll be giving him. Give him a big hug from me and Vegas - oh and one for Missy too. I'm sure she was missing Zak when he was at the vet's.
