I guess Zak is feeling ok... He's started to raid the bin again and is currently sniffing my shoulders and neck as he can smell a RAT .... literally (we have three rats).
Not too sore but he's having to eat sloppy food until his gum heals up a bit.
He's certainly enjoying his cuddles and is milking this for what its worth. He's a bit of an attention seeker!!!
Max (Labrador) - me want to play, me want to play, let me at it to play I WANT TO PLAY Dusty - Sniff ignore Missy - SNACK, SNACK SNACK GIVE ME THE SNACK ! Zak - ME HUNGRY, WANT SNACK GIVE IT TO ME NOW, GIVE ME GIVE ME GIVE ME GIVE ME SNACK NOW ME WANT IT RIGHT NOW GO ON GIVE IT TO MEEE PLEEEEEEESEEE !
Thats how the dogs react to the rats.... Zak goes hunting for them on the way to bed.
Zak has been given the all clear on his removed tooth and his neutering !
Zak also GOT HIS LEG BANDAGE OFF today !!!!
The wound has finally healed over and dried out but we and Zak have to be extremely carefull with it as the skin is VERY thin and can be burst easily right now. I would bet having that bandage off must feel FANTASTIC !!!
Weight has gone down a little but to be expected after the op.... 33.8 kg but doing really well none the less. (last weigh in was 34kg)
He bounced into the vets this morning and gave the vet a huge cuddle and a kiss.... strange dog... most of my other dogs are feared of the vet but not Zak. I think he just loves them to bits.....
Really pleased for Zak, and you. Things are looking up, he seems to take everything in his stride and you are doing a brilliant job. It must be so rewarding seeing how well he is coming on.
Zak is back to the vets on Saturday for it to be checked. I'm gonna make him a wrist cuff to help him protect it once the bandage comes off again.
Wednesday I was high as a kite that the weekly vet visits had stopped and that he got his bandage off. I'd been with him ALL day and he NEVER touched his ankle all day then I go out for half an hour to collect my kids from school and he bursts the skin and makes the wound swell up again.
I was SO angry at him for harming himself again but even MORE angry at myself for not protecting his wrist when I went out....
So hopefully we are NOT back at square ONE !!!
Katrina p.s. I will be at the Xmas show and will be bringing Dusty and Zak to the Lurcher Day and Missy to the Greyhound Day if anyone wants to meet up.
Zak will have to be bandaged until at least next Saturday.
Other than his leg he is doing really well.
I managed to SHOCK someone who enquired after him the other day.... "My.... he must need a lot of walking !!" I said no.... and went on to explain that he sleeps most of the day and only needs short walks and that greyhounds are such lazy dogs!
The nice lady was somewhat shocked and pleasantly surprised but I doubt she would consider such a big dog as she was a bit unsteady on her feet without a dog toboot !
Zak went back to the vet last Saturday to have his leg checked.
Its healed again but he's gonna be bandaged for the next two weeks at least just to try and give it time to heal more thoughly.
I've made a padded cuff for when the bandage comes off so hopefully Zak won't be a wee dafty bursting his leg again.
We had him weighed again and he's gained back plus extra from what weight he lost after his neutering. He's gone from 33.6kg to 34.8kg. He's nearly at an ideal weight for his size (somewhere between 35kg and 37kg).
