Lucy will be accompanying me to the GAL Xmas Show on Saturday if all goes to plan. She has been on lead walking only for a couple of weeks after a little tear on her side started to open up and had to be stapled so she is a bit stir crazy... Hope to meet some of you there (Lucy is partial to the occasional biscuit so if you want to get on her good side you know what to do!)
Well we all went to the Xmas show in the end and Lucy got to show off a bit in the homeless dogs parade and also as a training mule for Dave to demonstrate the "leave it" command. Took her no time to master that and she even managed to restrain herself from snatching her breakfast chicken wings from my hand this morning so big thanks to Dave!
A few people at the show were interested in Lucy but we still took her home with us... She was very well behaved and totally confident with both dogs and people. I think that she may have eaten her own weight in biscuits but the big prize went to one of our girls Indy who managed to wheedle treats from everyone in range despite wearing a muzzle... I was lagging behind despite my best attempts with the carrot cake. If I had known about the waffles though I might still be there!
Dino & Jade - Lucy did brilliantly on Saturday - she looked so at ease & utterly adorable. I was most impressed with her at the training demo....
Im so glad I didnt win the lottery on Sat night or I may well have nabbed her off you. She is SUCH a cutie-pie!! All credit to all the work you have put into her!

Lucy update: Largely uneventful, which is a good thing I reckon...
We just gave Lucy a bath and she was no problem at all. Seemed happy enough so long as I shovelled treats down her gob...
She was very good during the 2 weeks of on lead walking but has been making up for lost time since she got her staples out on Monday. No dog is safe as she relentlessly forces every dog in the park to play with her. Poor Malcolm is a shadow...
Thanks again to Dave for the leave-it command. Today she was just diving face first uninvited into her lunch when I gave the Leave It! and she ran back three paces and gave a lovely sit until released. I tried her on target training briefly but time has been a bit short recently so I haven't taken it very far. She does like to work and is confident enough to try new things so clicker training is no problem for her. And now she is starting to look to us for training in the park in between doing dog stuff. Heel has been tricky for her because she gets over-excited but she is starting to get the hang of it now. But her star turn has to be her recall which is excellent, and much more reliable than our own three dogs, sadly!
Looking forward to sharing the fire with a sweeter-smelling Lucy tonight!
Lucy seems to be enjoying her training and it's great she seems to have mastered the 'Leave it' command! It's great to hear how she's getting on - I must admit I've got a real soft spot for her!
Lucy had a whale of a time at Yellowcraigs today (see the thread in Your Dogs) running around mad with her pals. Glad we put her coat on.....
The big news is that Lucy has put on enough weight now that she can roach so we might have to cut out the lunchtime feed soon. I'll let Jade break it to her....
You're a big feartie, Dino... letting Jade break the news to Lucy that she doesn't need lunch any more! But it's great news that Lucy is putting weight on. Super photo again - Lucy in the sea with diamonds - could be a song in there somewhere!
She is truly a wild dog but its hard to photograph that side of her as she disappears into the savannah with her amazing chameleon coat. This time of year with the dry grass about she reads exactly like grassy shadows... Luckily she comes bounding back when we call her or she could sneak around being invisible as long as she liked...
Another wonderful photo of Lucy! Wild dog - don't think so. Might be a yawn, or a big grin, I'm not quite sure. But I do see your point about her expertise in camouflage!
(not the big white one, its not quite that easy....) Somewhere in this picture is a follicly-challenged jackal-like creature. Simply guess the square where the jackal is hiding and win a prize!
First prize: A lurcher! Second prize: A lurcher and a greyhound!!
you were to quick for me Souixsie .darn it, Lucy is a real character and got on so well with my own two and if I could have her I would ,she is adorable.

At the risk of stating the obvious, this competition was meant as a bit of fun and I'm sure that no-one using this forum would in any way condone the use of animals as prizes.....
Having said that, Lucy will be attending the John Muir walk on Sunday 18th if you would like to meet her, Jenny...
Some unkind things were said about me in the park today, just because I was too busy trying to get a shot in the twilight to worry about what my dogs were up to! Personally I think that multitasking is highly overrated..... and anyway Jade can probably look after 4 dogs and carry on a conversation without falling over....
Lucy was full of it today as we haven't seen many other hounds recently so she ran around for the best part of 2 hours and then stayed still for long enough for me to get a couple of shots with a dog in frame before the light went... think I finally managed to capture her gorgeous face in the second shot... You may notice that she is becoming less purple now that her fur grows in and it looks like she is somewhere between brindle and sable with a slightly broken soft coat, but it still sticks up like a wild dog's when she gets damp!
We are hoping to make the walk at Yellowcraigs on Thursday and John Muir on Sunday which should give Lucy a chance to get rid of some energy. We are so lucky to have so many good safe walks in this area. It makes keeping sighthounds so much less stressful and the dogs seem much happier when they have a chance to run around.... Anyhoo, enough blether.... Here's the pics!
These are incredible shots of Lucy! Just beautiful! Let's just say they're worth all the unkind remarks you got. I think you must've been lying on the ground, too, to take them!
