Thought I'd introduce everyone to one of my dogs, Jenna.
She is 5 today!!
Shes not strictly a GAL dog but I got her during my time as a volunteer for GAL and she was adopted into the fold.
Her picture is my avatar(if Ive set it up right!)
I also have a GAL greyhound called Angus. I ve had him for over 4 years now and he is doing well despite all his foibles (mainly medical). He was 9 in September. Hopefully I have attached a picture of him also.
Thanks to everyone for their birthday wishes and kind words. I, too, think my dogs are absolutely stunning and beautiful but then I am biased of course.
The picture of Angus was taken a few years ago but he hasnt changed a bit. He is no longer muzzled although this a recent development. It has taken me over 4 years to trust him without it on, although he has never given me any reason to distrust him. He's been muzzled when off lead pretty much since I adopted him. He used to chase foxes, squirrels, rabbits etc but now hes getting old and really cant be bothered anymore. I know from reading the forum that there was a great debate about muzzling and that really hasnt changed from when I used to do homings for GAL. I adamantly believe in muzzling your dog until you know him and trust him 100% and that maybe never.
Jenna, on the other hand, has never been muzzled. I ve had her since she was 3 months old so shes never been used for working or coursing. She does have the natural instinct to chase but really wouldn't know what to do if a squirrel jumped in her mouth, let alone if she caught one. Ive added a complete picture of Jenna for everybody to see.
She's absolutely beautiful, Yvonne. Very cuddlesome, I'd say! Super picture of her, too, in the long grass and having a great time by the looks of it.
BTW if you're going to the GAL Christmas event at the end of this month, you'll be giving us some serious competition for the most beautiful hounds! Glad I'm not the judge.
Christine, unfortunately I can't take credit for Jennas picture. It was taken a few years ago when GAL were doing a calendar shoot with the claymore people. The picture was taken by the very good photographer who was there (sorry i can't remember her name.). Also I will be unable to make the GAL christmas show cos I'm going to be dayshift both days. I've been the previous years and its a great day out. I'm sorry I'm going to miss it. Wonder who the judge is??
Caught sight of you on the Braes the other day and I was wondering how you, Jenna and Angus were getting on so it was nice to come on here and see your posts. Glad the dogs are well - I still tell JJ that he should be looking to Angus as a role model and he still slings me a deafie!
