I've been mooching around for a few months, so I thought I'd say "Hello" to all you dedicated lurcher lovers (and of course Greyhounds too!)
I must confess as to not having owned a Greyhound since 1979. She was a tan bitch called "Zara". The prettiest young girl you ever did see! Unwanted by her owner, because she couldn't produce the times at the local Wallyford race track (this was in East Lothian), I swiftly moved in and rescued her from goodness knows what. I had seven wonderful years with this beautiful, graceful friend, until she succumbed to cancer......
I swore I would never have another dog; well we always do don't we? Many years later we bought Rolo and Bess (2 Black Labradors). Rolo is still with us (he's twelve, but showing signs of his age now: back legs a bit shaky etc.etc.), but Bess was taken a couple of years ago now (old age). This is where I feel I'm being unfair to my dog Rolo at this current moment in time. Nothing could ever take the place of this fabulous boy of mine, but I'm aware of the plight of our poor animals in "GAL": Rolo's not getting any younger, and it appears I'm waiting for him to leave us, to make way for another pet. This is not the case, but I sure feel funny writing this! If my poor big boy does go, will I be able to bring myself to adopt a needy case??
I'll continue to give my support, and apologise for probably feeling sorry for myself, and perhaps looking for answers that only I can work out for myself??
Anyhow, take care all you smashing dog lovers out there, and I hope I may meet some of you soon: thanks,
