Q & A LIST
Permalink Closed

The Q & A LIST is open for anyone to suggest topics for discussion at a forthcoming event.

Topics can be behaviour or training related, general or specific. I would also welcome any subject particularly related to:

  • Dominance

  • Hierarchy

  • Alpha

  • Rank reduction

How to...............? questions always very welcome. Why.............? is good too!

So, ask away at just about anything! (Putting your name and dog's name on the post would be helpful.)

Cheers,

Viv

Hi Viv, I've thrown a quick list together, none of these applies to specific dogs however looking through the GAL records of bounced and problem dogs over the last few years these are the main reasons. There's also other stuff which I guess constitutes frequently asked questions and I think getting some pointers would certainly help out my job and the GAL volunteers who 'talk hounds' to potential adoptees week in week out...I guess some of these don't actually fall under the banner of 'behavioural' issues but see what you think for inclusion...

1. Seperation Anxiety - Best way to cope / solve these issues.

2. Dominance - (particularly round children) Best ways to cope / solve issues.

3. Fear Aggression or just Aggression to other dogs.

4. New dog in the house - The first week - Do's and Don'ts.

5. Best ways to introduce new dogs.

6. House Training.

7. Fireworks.

8. First time off lead.

Just a few MASSIVE subjects there then?!

Duly noted Dave.

To be fair to all, the four items I listed are my 'pet hates' and I would really like to dispell some common myths surrounding them. I think this may help everyone to understand a little more of what might actually be going on in our dogs minds and why.

Don't be shy now everyone.
