Hello GAL Forum, I registered a short while ago, and today I picked up my new baby from GAL, so thought I would post a little about him. His name is/was Morpheus (he is still in the dogs for adoption gallery). I am thinking of renaming him, as he doesn't really answer to his name!

Unfortunately, he is quite bald around the back end and on his belly, his claws are quite long and he is terribly thin. I think all of this will soon change though, he certainly gulped down his dinner tonight!

I walked him with my mum and my sister and their dogs, and they seem to have readily accepted him as a member of the family already, which is great. He is a still a little unsure of my cockatiels, but he has a healthy fear of my parrot and stays away from his cage! I am so pleased with what a good boy he has been, it has been a long, busy and confusing day for him, and he has behaved like an angel - and as I write this, he has finally gone to sleep in the bedding he is pictured lying on below.

I'll post again later with updates, but would like to thank GAL for giving me a wonderful pet and companion.

Well done ...I'm sure you'll have lots of fun helping him get used to normal life as a pet. They tend to behave in the first month, and then the real fun starts when they think they have you trained.

All my dogs came to me with bald thighs and a baldy tummy - still have. Great for blowiing raspeberries on! (That's on the tummy of course!)

Hi Jenna and Morpheus,

He is a very handsome boy and he looks to be very settled. A few cans of sardines usually helps with a glossy coat and he will soon put on the weight! The very best of luck with him, I look forward to hearing all about him settling in and pictures always go down well on here if you have a digital camera!

Our Best Wishes Em, Tig and Chad x

Thanks to everyone for your interest and support, I've been snap-happy today, so thought I would post this pic. He's giving me the whole "please, no more walkies mum, I really just want to SLEEP" look, but he seems to know that after the flash I usually disappear for a bit!

And hopefully the next time I snap him sleeping, he will be furrier and not so bony!

Lucretia - he's such a sweetheart! It won't be long until he's filled out a wee bit. Has he tried out the sofa yet?

I have reverted Morpheus back to his racing name, which, for some odd reason, he answers to! And so he is now Billy. He was introduced to the vet on Monday, and was well-behaved again - he was even gentle with the vet's three-legged cat. Billy was given a clean bill of health, which was good news of course, and he even managed to charm the vet into giving him a hug - three times! Then again, what is more adorable than a furry black face and a pair of amber eyes?

Christine - Billy has not/can not try out my sofa, because I don't have one... I currently only have a low chair, my new sofa and armchair set don't arrive until the 16th, so we will see. However, I doubt Billy will want to use the sofa, he ADORES his little fortress at the end of my bed, as you can see from the below pic, where he is giving me a rather childish "no girls allowed in my den!" look!

He sounds lovely - looking forward to meeting him sometime.

Hi Jenna/ Lucretia

I have only just twigged/realised that you are the same person I spoke to about Ben. (I am a ......at times!) I'm glad you have found a greyhound that suits you.

Ben has changed alot in the last month, he still has moments, but we're working with him. He grown attached to the gang and in particular Dexter and shadows him everywhere.

Louise

Oh and Morpheus/Billy is gorgeous!

Hi Louise, glad to hear Ben is doing well, I noticed there is a new pic of him on the website, and it really shows his beautiful colour and coat!

That's sweet that he shadows your other dog Dexter... Maybe Ben will have a permanent home with you?

Hi Jenna,
Billy is just gorgeous. I noticed in the introductions bit that you have a parrot. I was just wondering how Alf reacted to your new family member and how Billy reacted to him?! Just curious!

Jane, Ralf is surprisingly gentle with Billy - more so than he is with me! Ralf is used to dogs though, he lived on a farm before I got him, and then lived with a GSD-Cross and a Cocker Spaniel without consequence. He actually likes dogs and cats, and tries to call them over to his cage.

Your doggy looks like Casper, the Greyhound a friend of mine adopted from GAL a few years back. He looks totally laid back and happy in the pic too!

I really admire you Louise (and all the others) for fostering dogs on behalf of GAL. I couldn't foster a dog - well I could actually, I just wouldn't be able to give it back! Hope Ben finds a good home soon, I'm sure he will.

Billy has been fantastic, his only drawback is that he is totally yellow. He ran away from a puppy Jack Russel last night with his tail between his legs cause it yapped at him! On the plus side though, he has accepted the other dogs and pets, since is basically scared of them and gives them much respect!

Jenna, It's cute that they get on so well. I am really interested in parrots - so intelligent. Never had the pleasure to own one though... Ralf maybe senses Billy is nervous of him and that's why he's so gentle..? So cute

Mine is a Casper too! Must be a popular name for white dogs!
