Just wondered who on the forum has the oldest (living) dog..I've a bit of a soft spot for the oldies!...I'll start the 'bidding' at our Suzie d.o.b. 30th May 1992 making her today 13 years 6 months and 17 days!..
Despite being an 'older Gal' I'll bet Suzie still makes all the youngsters you have toe the line. What a marvellous age - and hope she has many more happy years with you!
If you'd seen her this morning Christine you'd have thought she was about 2 years old, we played a full 90 minutes footie match in the garden, Greyhound v's Lurchers (87 - 0 to the lurchers btw) Suzie likes to be the ref and she's pretty handy with the 'studs first' tackle too...
Any advance on 13 years, 6 months and 17 days??...
Nope. Can't beat Susie's age Dave --- Woody's but a spring chicken at 10 / 11yrs but I know what you mean about the football ! He might be an elderly gent but, my Goad, he gives the collies a run for their money where toys are concerned. All toys belong to Woody!
Wishing Susie many more years as chief fitba' ref.
Suzy is doing well isn't she, must be the good care she gets.
As you know I have my two now (Tig and Chad) and before that my Charlie. Going back even further my first grey was called Rusty, he was found wandering in the street and it was thought that he was a coursing dog belonging to gypsies. We took him to the vet when we first got him who put him at approx 4-6 yrs old and we had him for a further ten years. When the vet looked at him at the end he said he could be as old as 17! But that he was definately over 14.Considering the early life he had (he was just ribs when we got him) it was amazing that he did so well. He was energetic to the end, never showing his age and loved a game of ball too. He finally succomed to a stroke in the night.
I know he is deceased but I just wanted to let you know how long they can last with good care, perhaps Suzie will live quite a while yet, heres hoping.
Dave, I get a lovely warm feeling whenever you post stuff about Suzie, glad to hear she is still going strong. She sure deserves all the spoiling in the world.
