When Mark & Suzie retired from racing their owner kept them, no one knows why, they were kept in a small garden shed, un-heated, no light and given no exercise. As their health deteriorated both dogs came close to death. Due to having no light both became virtually blind. Due to their poor diet both dogs teeth became badly infected to the extent they couldn't eat anymore - they were force fed bread by their owner to keep alive. Due to not getting enough exercise both dogs became weak and had overgrown nails.
Thankfully for the dogs GAL found out and they were rescued. Both dogs were aged 12 when the arrived in GAL's care.
Mark & Suzie spent 7 years in those dreadful conditions.
definitely. it's more of a throaty growl now but she knows how (and when) to use it to best effect. and she's never been challenged. she'll still take the others by the scruff of the neck when she's had enough of their shenanigans. grabs 'em by the gums!
How sad, I couldn't help shedding a tear, especially after seeing them on their duvets happy at last. You can only imagine how good it is to be in the sun at last.
