Yuk - poo probs

Never a dull moment with our two!

Pearly has always been a minger and in fact the first time we met her in kennels she was maniacally eating another dog's sick. She's always been prone to eating poo now and again if she gets the chance.

Well.....each night we take both dogs off lead for half an hour in the fields near our house (we see them with wee led lights in the dark) and we've caught Pearly scoffin a bit of poo now and again. So, on with a muzzle we thought but tonight when Fiona went to give her a recall treat she got a handful of sludgy poo as Pearly had dug her face into a big pile of it and it was all over her muzzle....yuk!

As far as I can see we have two options - keep her on the lead or put up with her sneaking a nibble now and again as we ain't using the muzzle again!

Any other suggestions welcome???

Sympathy Steve - I have had exactly the same thing happen.  Skipper wears his muzzle in the house because of our daft old cats, and on one occasion I let him in the garden without removing the muzzle.  When they all came in the door I thought "what is that smell? bleagh!"  and sure enough - the end of his muzzle was covered in sh*t.  Yeuk, yeuk, yeuk!

However - Skipper is not prone to eat dog poo - so I was assuming he had stuck his nose down for a sniff and of course the muzzle is lower than the nose . . . . . . !

Anyway - whatever the reason - horrid!  And I now try to remember to take his muzzle off before he goes in the garden.

btw - I should add that we do sh*t pick the garden - but sometimes one or two get missed!

Oh yuk! I've had this problem too with Petra - she's loves eating poo & it gets all over her muzzle if she is muzzled - and then to add insult to injury, she wipes her muzzle all over my leg because she wants me to take it off. She is the ultimate minger!!

No solutions to offer I'm afraid - I used to always carry a pack of babywipes about my person for any poopy incidents. Eating the poo is revolting in our eyes but prob doesn't do them too much harm as long as you worm regularly.

Yup, that's the one! Pearly also has a habit of nudging my hand with her nose if she thinks it's time for a treat. Not nice with a muzzle covered in poo.....

I know poo is poo, but it seems Biscuit (Lurcher) does make a distinction, and only has the habit of nibbling on fresh horse or cow poo, never touched dog.  Wondered if it might be sweet smelling of grass, and it's a way of him getting grass, and telling me he wants more veg in his diet?
