Billy has shared my home for the past 3 1/2 years, in all that time he has never bothered with the furniture then suddenly yesterday he climed onto the sofa and fell asleep, it was such a magic moment it's just a pity I didn't have my camera to hand.
That same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Millie has been here for 5 months now and never gone on the furniture, then one day she just got up on the sofa and fell asleep. Now she has discovered my bed there is no stopping her lol

It is funny how owners of other breeds of dogs are always trying to get them off the furniture, but retired racer owners are celebrating when they finally jump on!
Ziggy has no idea what i'm on about when I try to get him on the sofa. Some day I'm sure he'll surprise me.
I'm one of the hard-hearted ones, the dogs in this household aren't allowed on the furniture. Mind you, more than once we've gone upstairs to find a greyhound-shaped dent on the bed.
I've only just managed to get my three to stay of the couches!!!! That was our Magic Moment! Mallaig totally ruined our old one, we now have a new one, also now when we get visitors they don't have to sit on the edge of the chair with a large greyhound behind pushing them off!!!!
Blue isn't allowed on the sofa or upstairs. When we first took him to our vets for a check up she tried to prescribe him a sofa...
Strange when we were on holiday we were plaing hide and seek with the kids and Phil hid under the sofa. Blue promptly climbs up on to the sofa obviously thinking Phil had lost his marbles and there fore his position as pack leader, Blue was more than willing to take his place
Shame you didn't have your camera to hand Chrissy but I'm sure the memory will stay with you forever
what a lovely experience for you. dave and daisy regularly hog the sofa so that neil ends up on the floor. as for the bed, neil has been known to sleep in the spare room on a number of occasions......it's usually his own fault, cos he gets up in the night for a wee and the dogs jump into his bed space. then he can't get back into bed when he returns from the bathroom.
It took Sunny less than an hour to make herself at home on our sofa when we first got her. Our last dog wasn't allowed on the sofa but Steve is so smitten with Sunny she gets a sofa to herself and on the bed!!! But I think she deserves it, plus she gets stiff lying on the floor.
But we make sure she knows her place. She knows whos boss in our house.........our two year old Alix!!!!!!

How lovely that Billy found the sofa ( I am sure you will live to regret it though!) We have just claimed our sofa back after supplying the boys with new beds. I am pleased because we have new furniture coming soon and I don't think my other half would approve of them on a new leather sofa that cost well far too much!
I have to confess that I bought my suite with the dogs in mind. I have a 4 seater for Angus and Jenna, and a 3 seater for me and guests. The cats fit themselves around just about everything.
