Paw Painting Art Show Fundraising

Animals available for adoption from the rescue will create professionally styled paintings. The paintings can be done on canvas and professionally matted and framed. These paintings are then given names reminiscent of great works of art and described as one would describe a work created by a master such as Monet, Rembrandt, Kandinsky or PAW-casso. Cite examples of shadowing, chiaroscuro, the artist's sense of playing with light, the interesting uses of color, and the detailed 'paw-strokes' used.

A bio of the animal artist and a photo of the animal will be provided in a smaller frame that will accompany the artwork when sold. The paw paintings can be sold for $100 or more during the auction time or sold individually as part of an art show.

Join up with the Junior League or other civic group to bring in some of their members and friends to the animal rescue event. You can co-host the show as part of their goodwill efforts to support the community. If you have an art school or studio nearby, ask them to be a sponsor of the event and assist you in framing your artwork or donating canvases and supplies.

Door Prizes: One of your art pieces, an opportunity for a local artist to paint a photo of your pet for you, a sculpture of an animal, etc.

Variations: Animals can also paint original works of art on t-shirts, aprons, sweatshirts, tote bags and other items.

Caged For Critters Fundraising

Our President and Shelter Director are caged in a dog kennel at the intersection of two busy streets. We set up in the McDonalds parking lot there. They feed the volunteers all kinds of salads, because they figure we bring them business. The 2 people will be let loose only after we raise $10,000. We have several dignitaries from the city who spend some time with them in the kennel: the University Chancellor, the Mayor, School Principals, School Music Directors, who bring a small group from their bands or choirs to perform, etc. Other ARF members are around to run up to cars stopped at the traffic light to ask for donations. They have bags for the money made to look like animal paws. A couple of the people also dress like animals for fun. Last year we raised $5,000 and this year we hope to double that.

how about this ??

Celebrity Autograph Fundraising

Write every celebrity you can think of and ask for an autographed something to auction off at your fundraising event. Lots of people collect autographs of the rich and famous. Send best-quality, blank note cards to famous people with a POLITE request for them to sign the supplied cards and the reason why you are asking. These guys may not be home, so be patient. It could take months if they are doing a movie in Polynesia or a road trip in the Balkans. But, on the upside, celebrities are often more than willing to help out a good cause.

ALWAYS supply a self-addressed, stamped envelope, in which the cards are returned to you. Make sure the address is your organization's. It's okay to say "John Jones, c/o xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx." If you can include some proof of who you are in your request (on letterhead, your charity ID number so they can check up, etc) that will be good. Here are a few hints to help improve your chances of success. Don't ask for too many autographs, as this will guarantee a refusal. Always include a self addressed, business sized envelope with the correct postage. Not only is this a common courtesy but the only way you will get a reply. Include cards or something for them to sign. Don't expect them to expend energy or their own money on you. If using note cards, make them the best quality and the color and size you prefer, not what's cheap at the store. Include two envelopes: the one for the card to protect it, and the one that the card goes in to mail to you. The better the condition of the card, the more money you can get at auction. If you have a theme, like the entire Boston Bruins, supporters might want to buy the whole series. Do your research and price the cards appropriately. Don't overprice or under price yourself. If you must go one way, go under. If they don't sell at auction you can always see if they sell on eBay!

Variation: Make T-shirts with your logo. Sent two to celebrities with postage paid return envelopes and a permanent marker. Ask them to sign and return. Tell about project. Invite them to keep one shirt if they would like. Auction off the signed one.

well not sure surfing the net counts as thinking....LOL, but there are some great ideas out there if you search under "fundraising ideas" - this site above is VERY American (can you tell ?? ;) & a lot of the ideas on it just arent suitable ....

Ive PM'd Tracey who is in charge of looking for ideas to raise money for the KF as I got all excited at the 2nd idea I posted about the kennel....

I reckon we could coordinate to have someone/or several! bodies to all have a "sit in" in a kennel in the major cities across Scotland (& anywhere else that wants to join in) - just using a large indoor crate should work.

Have a 12hr shift - say 7am-7pm. Get other folk to help out in shifts by providing security for you,(feed you coffee & cake), holding buckets/cans for donations, put up loads of posters, get folk to dress up....get friends, work pals, family etc to sponsor you for each hour you sit in, maybe also have a table set up where you can also sell off KF bricks etc ....

Get permission from the local council & maybe inform the police when permission is granted. Get all the local press to come along, get the TV companies involved....get folk to bring along their Greys too with "I need a home" jacket on etc....

It could be huge exposure - think David Blaine on a slightly smaller scale!! LOL

Im well up for taking the Princes St. Edinburgh pitch!! Anyone else in??

I'd definitely be up for the idea of staying in a kennel - as long as my other kennel mates are house trained!

Put my name down for this if it's happening.

When do you propose doing this cage idea, if you make it a Saturday I would try and get the day off to help, but would need prior warning. Nora Would be willing to go to sleep in the cage for a while, might get a break that way. lol

Its great you're getting this off the ground Suzanne, I think it will really get peoples attention. I will come and be a 'helper' at the Edinburgh one if you still need folk.
