I am certainly not the best poet in the world but I wrote a poem about Casper and John from Greyhound Muses kindly put in on his website along with some pictures of Casper. I am a bit embarrased to show you all as its not great, but Casper means the world to me and I thought I'd share it
The poem is on 'Poems page 1' called 'Caspers Poem' (what an original name) and the pictures are on picture page 15

what a beautiful poem Jane - I had no idea poor wee Caspar came so close....thank god you stepped in as he is such a wee darling....love the photos too!!
Maisie has her own page too on Johns site - in the 'Muses' section.....
and Ive noticed that John had honoured his word & put in a Kennel Fund Appeal page for GAl - I really cant thank him enough & I hope we get loads of donations from it as his target audience is VERY international.
I hadn't read Maisies story before, it's awful what they did to her. But it's wonderful that she is now happy. You have done so well with her, you & Murphy should be very proud.
The page on the Kennel fund appeal is great, I am sure a lot of bricks will be bought from it! John is a really good guy, his emails to me were very nice and it was great of him to put a page for the kennel fund on his site

What a touching poem to dedicate to your lovely pet. I never knew exactly what Casper,s story was, and they way you wrote it was with so much love and grace a real tribute to Casper. May you all have a long and happy life together. Nora

No need to feel embarrased your poem is very touching and tells his story. Also you can tell how much he IS so very much loved now. There are very few poems on that site I can actually read as I usually end up blubbing. Well done.
Jane, I love your poem about Casper , well done. It certainly tells a story. I think you should consider forwarding it for publishing in the GAL book - see thread 'GAL book' under News & Views.
A really beautiful poem and such a touching story. I hadn't realised you'd known Caspar since he was a puppy. I'm so glad he ended up with you and seeing him on the beach with you that day really is testimony to the love you and he share.
Thanks for all the kind comments. I believe Casper is my soul mate and we are meant to be together, and I am glad you all enjoyed reading his story. As I said, I am not the best poet but I thought it would be nice to share his story and that's what I came up with!

I doubt its good enough for the GAL book! I hadn't really considered it for the book seeing he isn't a GAL dog.
P.S. I should be getting another foster soon! Watch this space!

Hi CJ It is a lovely poem and as for Casper not being a "Gal" dog it doesn't matter the poem would still be a great addition to the book.Blue didn't come from Gal but we have submitted a chapter about him.
As for not being a Gal dog just because our hounds weren't adopted from Gal doesn't stop them belonging to the Gal family. You have attended walks and raised peoples awareness about the beautiful breed and no doubt helped with fund raising. What more could anyone ask for. Casper is def a "GAL DOG"
In my time as part of various artistic and writing communities one thing I have learned is that there are very few who are happy with their work and most have doubts that their work is good enough. I'd say you're sharing the feelings of almost anyone who tries to put their creative endeavours 'out there' and admire your bravery in putting it up here. It's always a first and positive step to show things to supportive friends :) Send it in and let Dave/the editor have the chance to choose it at any rate. I'm still plodding away putting my wee snippets into a blog until I feel I've collected enough to send off. When I do I assure you I'll be fretting about 'is it good enough'
