Kaiser is a 10 month old bundle of fun, sweetness and hard work! Beardie Collie / Greyhound cross. He's a bouncy boy and needs a foster home quickly. He's fine with other dogs and not too bad with cats (although VERY playful with them) He's a jumpy bouncy lad so no toddlers I'm afraid. I'd expect his new foster home to be able to start some basic training with him cos he sure does need it! For more info please email david@gal.org.uk

And now for the piccies..

Dave,  this is the one I was talking about today.  He is really lovely.  Any news on a home for him yet?

What a shame - and a surprise!  I thought he would have flown off the books!

Hi Kate, well you win some and you lose some I guess, I hadn't replied to your original post till now because today was the day that Kaiser was scheduled to meet a lovely new family who wanted to permanently adopt him. Well arrangements had been made a few days ago however when a GAL volunteer went to pick up Kaiser this morning for the meeting with the potential adoptees there was no one in and no answer from Kaisers current owners mobile.

Our volunteers finally gave up after waiting for a good long time outside the owners home, this all happened this morning, about 6 hours later our volunteers managed to make touch with Kaisers current owner who told us they had given Kaiser to a family member to look after and that he no longer needed rehomed. Why they didn't tell us so we could cancel the arrangements for today is beyond me.

So, 2 lots of dissapointed and frustrated folks today, count me as the third, lets hope the family member who now has Kaiser is capable of looking after him properly....

I hope Kaiser's new home recognises that they now have a special little boy who needs to be looked after and trained properly! Good luck to the wee man - he looks amazing!

Hi Dave, chin up, I'm sure the potential owners will still want another dog - and I'm sure you and your team can help them find him/her - I know there must be the right little chappie out there for them!

It's a shame that they didn't let you know but I'm sure they've had the best interests of Kaiser in mind when finding a new home for him.  It's one less for you to worry about now at least!

All the best, you're all doing a grand job

I'm a natural born pessimist, but that whole situation sounds really dodgy to me.  Between being told Kaiser was being rehomed, and the GAL people actually arriving to collect him, he was somehow rehomed by his owners?  Who then "forgot" to tell GAL and were mysteriously out when the rehomers arrived?

I'd feel a lot happier if GAL had been allowed to see Kaiser in his new home.

I agree and think that is a good point.  It can always be approached on the basis that GAL have a responsibility for the dogs in their foster homes?....  Kate x

Unfortunately not, since Kaiser was still in the care of his original owner.

Until we actually have a dog in foster care and the owner has signed a Transfer of Ownership document, GAL have no influence. The dog remains the 'property' of the owner and they can do with the dog as they choose.

It's sad but it happens from time to time, with pet owners as well as with trainers.

Hi there, I am brand new to the forum and so please excuse any mistakes I make. We are the family that were hoping to adopt Kaiser last weekend and were very disappointed but we hope he has gone to a lovely home and will be very happy. He looked gorgeous. We are still looking for another dog to adopt and Dave is very kindly on the lookout. We have a lurcher called Rosie who is 5 and who is completely loved and spoiled and we are looking forward to having another lurcher or greyhound to adore!!!

Hello Rosiegirl, welcome to the forum. It's such a shame you couldn't have Kaiser, it sounds like he'd have had a brilliant home with you and your much-loved lurcher. Hope you find another dog soon.

Welcome to the forum Rosiegirl.

I'm sorry that it didn't work out for you being Kaiser's new Mummy.  I think you have to just think to yourself that it just wasn't meant to be...... there's obviously going to be a very special dog reserved for you and Rosie, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that he or she comes along soon

Love Kate x

Hi Rosiegirl

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure it won't be long until a very lucky dog comes home with you to join Rosie!
