Hi Folks, the next GAL event will be an Awareness Day to be held at the Kennels in Langbank on Saturday 18th March from 11am - 3pm. Address as follows -
Finlaystone East Lodge Kennels 299 Greenoch Road Langbank PA14 6TH
SO! Whats in store on the day?...Well hopefully we'll get a lot of dogs homed!!
there'll be the usual cakes and coffees available and of course lots of homeless dogs needing a wee walk along the beach, also feel free to bring your own dogs for a wee wander! The GAL shop WILL be in attendance on the day so if you want a bargain please pop along!
Finally(!) we promised unusual fundraising type activities for the kennel fund so here goes! We all know that our dogs are worth their weight in gold, well I'm not going to ask you to all bring along gold bars (but if you have any just lying around please do so!) We want to see if we can match the weight of one of our homeless hounds in BRONZE.
So what do you have to do? Well really we're doing YOU a favour! Fed up with all those 1p and 2p coins just lying round gathering dust, bring em to the Awareness Day and at the end of the day we'll see if we've reached the 32 Kilo mark (the weight of an average Greyhound!) Think that sounds a lot of dosh?......come along and find out!
I'm at Bothwell that day, but funnily enough I also have a jar of coppers just lying around waiting to be put to good use - next Strathclyde Park Walk?
At last I think we can make this one We are at a 21st in Paisley the night before and staying over (bliss night without kids).
Think 1 and 2p idea is great im sick of finding them all over the house. Kids had a comp to see who could find the most last night. They even raided their piggy banks. Do you want those annoying little 5ps aswell

Just a thought- I spoke to Kathleen last week. It is her intention to go to car boot sales to raise a few pounds for GAL. I know that she hopes to go along to Langbank on Saturday. I'm going to take along a few things for her to sell. So it might be an opportunity for others to do the same.
Also is there a need for any home baking - if so I am going to try out my new oven - you have been warned!
Hi Folks, well firstly a big thanks to everyone that showed up yesterday to help out, we had a very busy day yesterday and the weather wasn't too bad! Fraid no dogs were homed but a few application forms went out so we'll see. BIG thanks to everyone who brought along their old coppers, the final 'total' was 39.4 kilos which is an AMAZING effort, I'll just need to count them all now.....Keep saving the coppers guys as we'll do another collection at a future event if a few months
Great news, Dave! But rather you than me doing all the counting!
We really enjoyed yesterday, meeting everyone and walking some homeless dogs. I handed out two business cards - and told them to look up the website and forum for up and coming events and to keep in touch as they seemed really interested. Some of the new faces there said they'd seen the big banner outside Rachel's gates and came in out of curiosity. So big banner advertising seems to work!
Thanks again to Rachel and Eddie for putting on another Awareness Day. Thanks too to the organisers, home bakers and to Iluska for running the Tombola.
I hope that all the homeless dogs get homes really soon!
Thank you so much for posting these photos. They're brilliant - I love the close ups of Vegas by himself and Vegas and Maverick. And the black dog at the end (I think it might be Mac?), the photo is SO good - you can see every hair! The one with Billy walking Vegas and Maverick through the avenue of trees is excellent. Is it OK with you if I save them to my "special" folder?
All the pictures show that we all had a great day and plenty of dogs had a good walk!
Jenny's pictures are really great. Let me tell you - she makes a better photographer than a navigator! We took the scenic route on Saturday to Langbank!
Jenny I must have missed you. I was looking out for your dogs (how I identify most people) I did walk up to one woman with two hounds the same colours as your two and say "hi are you Jenny" she looked at me as though I was mad and said no!
I saw Vegus i recognised him from his photo but I don't think i saw you Christine. I didn't have Sunny with me so you's wouldn't have spotted me. We had to leave about one but we hope to stay longer the next time.
I did take the lovely Brodie for a walk and had to fight the urge not to fall in love ......again.

Well lets just say that Joyce has a great sense of humour with regard to my sense of direction, or lack of!
We ended up in Royston at first, then I gave up. On the way home we took a wrong turn. I think she must have clocked 60 miles with all the wrong turns.
Anyway me and Vernon are very, very grateful for the lift.
Sorry I missed you Landess. I was probably in the kitchen stuffin my face!!!
