I'll bring the contents of my collecting tin to the awareness day too. The amounts more than first thought as I've been telling everyone who will listen about poor Rowley.
So glad to see him on the mend his eyes def do seem brighter. Dave will he suffer any lasting problems from the attack. I've heard of dogs being really traumatised (is that how its spelt?) after attacks like this.
As already said what an amazing lady his foster mum is, she's doing a great job.

I spoke to Dave last week about raising funds for Rowley by contacting my kids school to take on GAL as a fundraiser. They have agreed in principle but would be for the summer term which would be a little late for Rowley. So I shall be taking leaflets into the school so that the head teacher knows what we are about and hopefully come summer we can raise much needed funds for the Kennel Fund or any other dog who comes to us in such a dreadful state. Oh and as the head teacher has just found out about Rosies piece of artwork.... my daughter is going to be pulled up in front of the school to be given a good round of applause. At the school there are 360 + children and approx 290 families so even if everyone gave a £1 we could raise between £200 and £300. Please keep your fingers X'd.
Why don't you mum's and dad's out there contact your kids school and see if they can't do a fundraiser for GAL and you don't need to be in Scotland to do that.
One point to note..... WE WOULD BE EDUCATING THE YOUNG AND RAISING THE AWARENESS OF GREYHOUNDS WITH THE NEXT GENERATIONS OF DOG OWNERS ETC. You never know you might always help to rehome a needy dog also by making more people aware of the greys.
a wee bit of a nudge in the right direction (from a teacher i.e. me). Ask your school if they would consider using GAL as an Enterprise in Education (Determined to Succeed) Project.
For this they could have a volunteer come in to discuss what GAL do and how to get involved; they could organise displays and raise funds through bake sales, tombolas, treasure maps etc.
Last year, my class ran an after school cafe and split the proceeds equally between GAL and well, themselves. They paid for an outing and also managed to donate some money to a worthy cause.
If you want any more ideas just ask. As I am the EiE co-ordinator for my school, I have loadsa ideas you can take to teachers just in case they can't think of any. lol
Hi folks, sorry for not posting an update on our Rowley sooner, firstly another big thanks, the cheques are still coming in for his appeal, I just can't thank you all enough!
Rowley was at the vets on Tuesday (21st) and got the stiches removed from the wounds on his right shoulder and chest, he also got the huge drain removed from the wound on his left leg. He's doing absolutely fab and loving his new life with his foster mum (plus her 2 dogs, Daisy a wee yappie terrier thingy and Samson a male Lurcher) The wound on his left leg was obviously the worst and will take the londgest to heal, he was due another vet visit yesterday but I haven't called foster mum for an update yet..All in all thought v. happy with his progress, he's turning out to be a smashing wee dog and I'm jealous already of whoever eventually gets to adopt him!
So pleased that Rowley seem to be improving every day. Suppose it'll take time. Sounds like he's a smashing dog and I'm sure he'll find his forver home soon after he's fully recovered. Bet his foster mum will be very tempted to keep him though - we would!
Hi Folks, quick Rowley update - he's well on the road to recovery now, the final wound on his left leg is all but healed, there's still a little gap of about an inch but it's slowly healing and the vet had prounounced him fit enough to be neutered in the next couple of weeks.
Even better news for him is that (as predicted by Mojo) his Foster mum has signed the adoption papers, he's a 'keeper'...
Bad news I guess is we've lost another good foster home!!...
A final huge thanks to everyone who contributed to Rowleys vet care, the final total donated was a massive £635 so with Rowleys bills now at £690 plus change it's pretty well covered, thank you all again!..
Not surprised that she decided to keep him after all they'd been through together!! and of course he looks a fantastic dog. Hope they'll all have many happy years together in his forever home.
Thats great news for Rowley, at least he will not have the drama of another home change, think the poor lads been through quite enough. CONGRATULATIONS. Nora

Wonderful news for Rowley. Glad to hear he's on the final stretch of the road to recovery. I'm sure he'll have many happy years and lots of fun in his new home knowing he'll be safe and well loved for the rest of his life. Well done to his foster family for deciding to keep him.

Great news! I'm delighted that Rowley is healing steadily and will soon be completely well. All the very best to Rowley in his home. He's a lucky young man!
Brilliant news about Rowley, he really deserves a special home. Not surprised his foster family decided he was keeper after everything they have been through together
It's amazing to think that it's the same dog! A few weeks ago he looked so traumatised in his photos. Now he's blossoming thanks to all the TLC he's had. Well done to his new Mum!
Wow! how handsome is Rowley?!!! He looks incredible - well done to his family for getting him better and of course giving him his forever home. If you didn't know you'd have absolutely no idea what the poor lad's been through would you? Thanks Dave for posting the pic too.
