Hi Folks, the next big fundraiser for the Kennel Fund will be a Psychic Evening with renowned UK Psychic WILLIAM O'CONNOR....
The evening will take place in the KINGS PARK HOTEL, Mill Street, Rutherglen, G73 2AR on THURSDAY 18th MAY with a start time of 19:30. (expected finish time is approx 22:15)
Tickets are limited to 200 so this is a 'first come first served' event, ticket price is £6.
So if you want to leave the dogs behind for a few hours, have a drink (yeah there's a bar in the hotel) and make contact with the 'other' side please email david@gal.org.uk for more info!
Can you let me have another 4 tickets for this event please?
I'll get them at Strathclyde Park next time I see you.
Who is organising this event? Is it Helena? I'm more than happy to help with anything on the evening. Raffle or the like. Intervals are always a good time to do a bit more fundraising.
Hi Joyce (and everyone) I'll have tickets at the next Strathie Park walk on the 2nd for anyone interested! There's no additional fundraising going on on the evening, this is just a fun night out for everyone concerned!!
So, can anyone tell me how many tickets they have sold/bought for this event. I am doing my best with flyers to all shops, pubs, banks etc in Rutherglen Main Street. I even went into the bookies and asked them if they would like to go! The manager had a face like a bull dog chewing a wasp so I think I can count her OUT! Unfortunately I have not had any phone calls yet for tickets from this leaflet drop, but I am keeping my fingers crossed (and legs too). If not enough tickets are sold then GAL will make NOTHING at all from this event. Which would be a real shame.
Don't let the only beneficiary be the psychic!
Let's get behind this event as it could be a great night oot!! If you think it's not really your THING then to be honest it's not really mine but anything to make a few bob for GAL is OK by me.
Please get in touch with Dave or me or Linda at SPCA as we all have a stock of tickets.
Joyce
PS There will be a GAL raffle and I already have a box of prizes donated by a lady I meet at the park. She asked her work colleagues if they had anything and the response was great. I have a bottle of bacardi, assorted smellies and Edinburgh crystal. There are also a few more bottles of spirits promised. So should be worth buying a few raffle tickets on the night.
That's good to know. Please be on the look for suitable raffle prizes as well. You may as well get the name for being not just pushy but downright cheeky as well. Like me!
Joyce - can I have another ticket for this? Are you going to the Strathie Park Walk in May? If so, I can pick it up then and pay you at the same time. I also have a kinda novelty prize for your raffle - but it also involves booze!
I don't think I'll be at Strathclyde Park as I'll be away. I will definately be at the psychic evening though and will keep you a ticket (there will be more than a few left) You could also bring your prize along on the night.
I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of people who attended this evening - it was a full house! Seemed that many had seen it advertised in the press!
Well done Helena for organising this great fund raiser
A huge THANK YOU to Helena for organising the event, she was so worried in case it was going to be a flop. Also to Joyce and Linda who did a fantastic job selling raffle tickets and trolley tokens. Sand and arabs, snow and eskimos I think you get what I'm trying to say.
Thanks too to all those who donated raffle prizes and to everyone who came along to show and give their very generous support.
It was an 'interesting' evening to say the least, people who were 'contacted' were very impressed with what they were told.
A private reading with William O'Connor was raffled seperately at the interval and the lady who won didn't want to talk to dead people!! She very kindly gave her winning ticket to GAL to raise more funds. William kindly agreed to auction it and £66 was the highest bid received.
I'll leave it to Dave to announce the total raised. Let's just say it should make him
Just to reiterate what Denise said, a HUGE thanks to Helena for organising this event for GAL and extra special mention to Joyce and Linda for helping her out!!...
OK, I'm smiling........the total amount raised for the GAL Kennel Fund was £1,109 an amazing effort, well done guys!
I know it's a couple of weeks since this event, but I've just come home from holiday.
It was a good night and a great fund raiser. No matter what your opinion is of this kind of "entertainment" it has to be said that a lot of cash was raised for GAL. And that can't be bad. I've also got about £50 from trolley token sales. See what can be done when you've got a captive audience!
Many thanks to all who donated raffle prizes. We had 29 prizes and that was after putting a couple of things aside for the summer fayre or Linda and I would have been on stage longer than Mr O'Connor!!
