Just thought I'd post a few pictures of my new foster, Daisy. I've had her for a few weeks now but just haven't had time to post about her until now. She's just turned two and is a real sweetheart. She's pretty shy but just loves cuddles. She's settling in really well now and I just love her to bits. Here she is

Daisy really looks like a lovely girl. Also, the first pic is great when you see Daisy's paw lying on Casper - they are obviously getting along just fine.

Daisy looks very content. I hadn't noticed that was Caspers back she had her paw on!! How is he getting on with her?

Looking forward to hearing more about her (and him).

Daisy's lovely and she's settled down very well in a short time! I'll bet she's a real wee cutie! She reminds me of Lulu, Douglas, Col and Isla - or perhaps it's just her colouring that makes me think of them.

I think Dave said she is a littermate of Star who was rehomed quite recently - I think anyway!

Her and Casper get on great. They are about the same age, but Casper is a lot more immature - she shows him how to be sensible and he shows her how to be daft. Casper isn't very well just now (has lost 7kgs in the last month) and Daisy seems to be cheering him up a bit, I am glad she's here. I have totally fallen in love with her already and I am trying not to get attached as there is no way I could keep her forever, but it's hard not to love her - she's just too cute!

Here they are having a cuddle

Thanks for all the kind words.

I have no idea what is wrong with Casper - bit of a long story really, it all started with the diarrhoea, then he started to lose his hair, then lose weight. He's gone from a healthy 33kg to a bony 26kg. He has gone through a range of tests, tablets etc and the test results have come back that he is hypothyroid - however because sighthounds have a lower result than "normal" dogs we cannot be sure if he is. The only reason the vet tested him was because of the hair loss and Casper doesn't seem to have many other signs of hypothyroidism. He is on a tiny dose of soloxine now for this to see if it makes a difference, but he lost another kilo last week (which was better than the 3kgs the week before) and he seems to still be losing hair. His diarrhoea seems to have cleared up, but I don't know if it's the new food or tablets, so we are going to reduce the tablets even more this week I think to see if he gets diarrhoea again. I am back at the vets today, so will let you know what happens. I am hoping he has put some weight on this week, I think he looks a bit better than last week. I was in tears last week as I seriously thought I was going to lose him, I just didn't know how much more weight he could lose, he's just a bag of bones. Not sure where we go from here if he still isn't better today, possibly referral I think. But fingers crossed he's put on weight!

Anyway, on a happier note - a family is coming to visit Daisy today! If they like her she will be going to her forever home next Monday!! I will miss her, but am really happy for her! ( I was in tears about that too actually, I love her to bits! I must just be having an emotional month!)

Hi Jane,
So sorry to hear about Casper, at least you know that your vet is running all relevant tests. Please keep us all posting.

And remember when Daisy does move to a forever home, you have helped her on her way there and you deserve to be extremely pleased with yourself.

Hugs to Casper.

Big hugs to Casper and we are all thinking about you and know how awful and worrying it is when your dog is ill. Well done for taking on a foster dog and doing such a good job, when you are having such a upsetting time.

Fingers crossed for Casper. Hope to see you both soon.

Landess and Sunny.

Two bits of good news yesterday!!
Firstly, Casper put on almost 2kgs this week! In the next two weeks I am to reduce his tablets gradually to nothing and see if he can do without. So fingers crossed he will be a drug free dog in a couple of weeks time and doing fine with it!
And secondly, the gorgeous Daisy has found her forever home She charmed her new owners last night and got on fine with their lovely hound Deccy. So she goes to her new home next Monday!!

Yes, he's a handsome big brindle. A very waggy tail when he met Daisy and her new family are lovely. Couldn't hope for a nicer couple really, I am really chuffed!

I will keep you updated on Casper - I am not back at the vets for a couple of weeks, so hopefully he will have put on a lot more weight by then.

So glad to hear that Casper has put on a little weight.Hopefully he's on the road to a full recovery.

Also good news about Daisy..I walked with Deccy and his Mum at Strathclyde on the Feb walk and you're right she's lovely. I'm sure Daisy will flourish in her forever home as she's had such a good start from you. Well done!
