Anywho, I'm 3 and half days into my first fostering experience.
I dropped Sunny off to be neutered this morning, and I'm sure I was more anxious for him than any of my own animals I've put in for surgery!
He's fine though, but has a bad dose of tapeworm (not surprising given the amount of fleas I picked out of his coat last night).
Here he is though - totally gorgeous despite the beasties.
As you can see he's settling in quite well! That was his one time on the sofa. Most of the time he sleeps on the rug - it's strange adjusting to having a dog on the floor. My female (Sky) NEVER lies on the floor. The floor is merely something to aid getting from the sofa to the food bowl.
Sunny is very well behaved and already knows some basic commands, but not his name. Do foster dogs get renamed automatically?
He's very vocal though, whines when he's wanting something, whines when he's excited, whines when he's been told off for daring to put a paw too close to Sky's blanket (she's being a total drama queen with him!). I guess he's just making sure we all remember he's here!
He's also got the waggiest tail ever, and likes to bounce up and down the minute you put your jacket on.
What a handsome boy! The tail wagging sound very familiar - Tilly just about wags hers off and you only have to touch your coat or her lead and she gets very very excited!
Glad Sonny is making himself at home & behaving well. No doubt Sky is still getting used to having another dog around the house. Amazing how bossy the girls can be!!
Hope Sonny got on OK at the vet for his op and recovers well.
Heh, heh, yes rats and greyhounds are quite a familiar combination it seems.
Sunny's op went fine and he doesn't seem too uncomfortable at all, although he was a wee bit sick during the night and then didn't eat any breakfast. He did eat his wormer tablet last night though.
Sky was surprisingly pleased to see him when he got back from the vet, and even allowed him on her blanket last night.... unfortunately her blanket was on the end of my bed at the time, and Sunny isn't quite as considerate when it comes to not lying on top of you .... and I just didn't have the heart to move him when he was feeling so unsettled. (He has me wrapped around his paws already).
Silly boy got all excited this morning when the kids were putting their school ties on...... I'm sure he thought those were leads for children!
Sunny has a wonderful new home thanks to you!!! I know you are missing him, but you must be so proud in the way you have helped him find it! I think you've done a fab job!
