(Strictly speaking, it's tomorrow but I don't routinely access the forum at the weekend so thought I'd post this today).
Incredible as it is to believe, we have had Harry for one whole year. Despite wonderful care in a foster home for a couple of weeks (so goodness knows how he was when Carole and Bill got him), he came to us a right skinnymalink at a stone underweight, with a busted tail, flakey skin all over his sides and tummy, and generally in a sorry state. He used to pull like a train on the lead and, despite his outward laid-back, air we could tell he was very cautious. He had a funny habit of making a snarling face but without the snarling to go with it, where he'd bare his teeth and bark and bark if he felt nervous or threatened. If he got a fright, he'd freeze in his tracks with his ears pinned back.
Now, Harry is a bouncy, happy, healthy, gorgeous big boy! He loves to play, he really loves clicker training, but best of all he loves his cuddles - that boy would sit on your knee all day long if he could! He still has 'issues' with other dogs, but he and Pearly are bonding more and more as the time goes on. He's great fun and so incredibly affectionate. He's our big boy, and we love him loads.
Happy 1st Gotcha Day, gorgeous Harry! Here's to many more in the future.
Happy 1st Gotcha Day to Harrry!!!! Sounds like you've done wonders with him and i'm sure him and Pearly realise how lucky that they are! We've only had Tilly for 6 weeks now but it feels so much longer. Here's to many years for all Greys in their forever homes!
I'm glad to hear Harry has come on so well, and the silent snarling face sounds familiar - my Billy did this with other dogs if they got too close to him when he was lying down. It was only last weekend that I realised he now happily lies down around the other dogs and doesn't even bat an eyelid when they invade his space. They seem to make progress every day, but it's only when they are presented with a test that we realise how far they have come.
Congratulations to Harry, and may he enjoy many more happy years with his doggy friend Pearly and his loving human family who have helped him become such a happy handsome lad!
I can't believe it's been a year. COngratulations Harry. You never have to feel scared again. You can sleep well knowing your mum and Dad will always be there for you.
Happy gotcha day Harry, here's to all the spoiling, hugs and cuddles, (just like any other day now in your wonderful forever home) Hope you get something extra special for dinner.
Wow Fiona and Steve I would never have guessed the handsome boy i met last week had such a bad start. Well done a big pat on the back for you's and a big hug for Harry.
Happy Gotcha day Harry love Landess and Sunny.

cant believe its over a year since i collected the hairy harry from the vets!!! How time flies..... I remember GAl calling me coz the big man was handed in very locally to me. I contacted the E-vets who had him to arrange picking him up to transport him to the GAL kennels at Langbank, They had had the poor boy for a few days after his owner had surrendered him for "allegedly" (sp) biting his kid. When the police turned up to Q & A his story blah blah blah it was apparent that this lad was nothing more than a big sookie lump. GAL were contacted over the weekend & then I got the call. i remember it well as they wanted to move him asap that w/end but I was busy so I called the vetsd & let them know that even though I couldnt transport Harry that day, that I would take him out for a walk instead.
They were delighted as their nurses dont have the time for that....little did I know that when I went to pick up that chocolate fluffy GH boy that Sunday for a walk, that my good pals Fiona & Steve would be the proud mom & dad....The wee man was soooo lucky to get you guys as new moms n dads....fair enough he didnt have hardship etc to cope with , just worms - eucht!!!, but Im sure he's one spoiled LUCKY LUCKY boy!!!

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to all your nice messages. As you can see from the piccie, I've been a bit too busy. Snoozing in the sun in the garden is very tiring work, and I've been having to rest a little bit to recover. Good job mum and dad gave me some nice roast chicken, veggies and gravy with my dinner or else I'd have had no energy at all for anything - they'd have had to lift me onto my cushion! The very idea. It's all I can do to roll over and have my tummy tickled, and a boy's got to have that done at least twenty times each day.
