Kai seems to like pickin up things an wanderin away with thum. Yesterday it was one o ma shoes (fun hawf wiy up the garden), pair o smelling binmen's gloves, slippers & muzzle.(aw funin his bed)
Its kinda cute cos he dinae chow thum, just hordes thum.........
Aww bless him. Seems he gets comfort from things with your scent on them.
Came in the other day to find Blue lying on my coat which he had take to his bed. Thought it very cute and that he must have been missing me. Went to put my coat on later to find a chewed hole in the jacket which he had done to get the last remaing treats left from that mornings walk Like one of yours Louise he was a stray - blooming nightmare at times good job I love him...
We have been able to let Kai off the lead for a gid auld sprint in the park. Dexter is well impressed cos he has finally met/stays with a dug that will play tig/tag wi him.
Think I ken why Kai didnae race....................cos when he runs/sprints am just buckled. Legs go everyway and aw angles, plus he bounces/hops............................his recall is prefect tho. (When av stopped laughin)

I thought that when I first saw Wilma run - no wonder she failed track school! Do you watch Friends? Did you ever see the episode when Phoebe goes running in Central Park? Her arms & legs are all over the place ..... if I'd seen Wilma running before we got her and changed her name, I would've called her Phoebe! Bless!

Wee/quick update on Kai.........he has lost all his kennel coat and is a sleek shiny chappy with gorgeous brindle markings. Goes walks no problem now (loves to run free in the park) after you get the harness over his head. We've worked out its the lead he is scared from, probably had a right pastin with one. So once the harness is over his head (not full on round his body) he gets up from his trembling spot behind the couch (where he's been hidin since we got the leads oot)stands for the harness to go on properly, then trots to the gate where the 'goin mental' other three are already waiting.
When anyone comes into the house (us included) or he gets excited he brings 'his' strawberry toy to you. (Think he's a lab instead of a groo!) He loves to play with Dexter/Abbey/us and is a right maniac once he gets going!
Had some poo eating, but a change of food & pineapple in it and seems to working.
Holidays next week so we will see how he copes with that (Abbey on calming tablets is bad enough!)
I haven't worked out/tried to put picture on yet Jennifer, but we are hoping to go to the GALa day on the 13th of August, maybe try him in a few classes . Might even have got a digital camera by then. (santa didn't come thro at christmas, tisk!)
He sounds great fun - especially when he's running! But it's great that Dexter has someone to play chases with. It sounds like he's blossoming and showing his personality now. Well done!
Been quiet on the Kai front cos he just one o the gang noo! He has taken to climbing on the couch when we're not in, we don't encourage our lot (or fosters) so he must have learned it before he come to us. (Funny how its taken boot 4-5mnths for him to start sneekin up tho)
Holidays went fine, just abit nervous in busy crowded place but plenty of admiring goin on. Then to top of our hols winning at the GALa! Still gobsmack Abbey , Florence and Kai winning anything with all the competion that was around! (Abbey has since torn/ripped a muscle in her wrist, so has a nice lump o scar tissue. Vet said he used to PTS racing groos for that. So thats another 'problem' to add to her ever growing list)
Piccie o the gang on holiday. (R-L Dexter, Kai, Abbey, Florence hidin' at the back)
Fantastic picture of all your lovely groos! Looks like they could all win prizes, never mind just Abbey!! You must be dead chuffed!
I feel as though I have known you and all of your greyhounds and ferrets for ages because I work in a school bedside your next door neighbour !! She tells me all about them. I think she has fallen in love with greyhounds now too!
That's a beautiful picture of your gang Louise. Just a pity Florence was hiding! I remember talking to you at the GALa when you had Kai in the ring. He's gorgeous and very like Tigger, even down to the white stripe up his nose. Wish I could take on more but (unfortunately) that's a big no no at the moment.
Loved the pictures, lovely dogs, those two are certainly peas in a pod! I wish I could manage a big gang like that - but not at the moment! Take care and well done they look great Em xx
Sum progress to report on Kai and his lead/harness/collar phobia...............couple o time over the weekend we managed to cajole/coax him to come oot from behind the couch and stand to get his harness on .
He is still quiverin' but maybe not as bad, but thats BIG progress for Kai. It's taken 5mnths, so must have been some pastin/ or scary event
Its been a while since Kai got an update but he's so much one of the gang now I forget (ok on purpose) that he isn't ours.
He likes nothing better than to play with Dexter, usually nipping Dexter's checks/ears and then a good old nibble of his legs, and a full sprint up and the garden, circuit of the livingroom and back up the garden. Dexter takes it all in fun until Kai gets to rough, then its a telling oaf. Dexter is now a 'mature' groo, compared to Kai anyway! Abbey even plays with Kai sometimes.
He has started to copy Abbey squeaking for his weekend breakfast, blow out his cheeks (copying Dexter) on Saturday when I offered him plain old dog food, then walked back to bed in disgust. Dexter has 'learned' to chatter his teeth like Kai plus sneek up onto the couch when we're not in.
Here's his offical birthday piccie for 26th December when he will be 3.
Dexter got jealous so he got a piccie too!
Sorry pictures are so big, resize on photobucket ok, but still huge when I paste them?! Ignore the last bit. Tried a different PC and they are fine, doh I need a holiday!
Kai is just lovely - tell you what if anyone offers a permanent home for him in time for his birthday on the 26th we'll throw in his hat!!...
Kai needs the company of another hound and a slightly more experienced owner (who doesn't mind chasing him round the house to get his collar and lead on when it's walkies time) oh, and an owner with a good sense of humor cos this boy will make you smile...
I keep trying to tell 'santa' and he keeps saying no
Yeh funny, i seem to have the same problem , although i think Santa knows ive been good this year and is begining to come round to the idea of having 2 greyhounds (and 2 mongrels)
